Lancaster Catholic quarterback Kyle Smith's 16-yard scoring toss to Tyler Purvis tied the senior gunslinger with Manheim Township grad Pat Bostick for the most thrown in a scholastic career in Pennsylvania. He has thrown 94 touchdown passes in his stellar career.
Will Hugo, Seneca Valley, nailed a 52-yard field goal, in his team's 19-17 win over Pine-Richland. The field goal set a new school record for the longest field goal in Seneca Valley history.
Mike Sinosky, Portage Area, rushed for 147 yards in the Mustang's 61-8 rout of North Star. With his rushing yardage, he became Portage Area's all-time career rushing leader with 4,026 yard breaking the old mark set by Mike Chobany in 1977.
Eugene "U-Turn" Byrd rushed for 273 yards in Northeast Catholic,s 19-15 win over Conwell-Egan Catholic enabling him to break the school one-game record of 220 set in 2006 by Daryl Robinson.
Freeport High School
won its 500th game last Friday with a 37-7 decision over Deer Lakes. The
school became the 17th school in PIAA Dist. 7 (WPIAL) to attain the milestone.
Some of the more familiar names that have contributed to the 500 wins include
coach Don Earley, who guided the Yellowjackets 19 years - all winning seasons;
Bud Carson, former Georgia Tech and Cleveland Browns head coach and the
architect of the Steelers 'Steel Curtain' defense in the 70s as an assistant to
Chuck Noll; Pro Bowl center Jeff Christy of Minnesota and Tampa Bay; former Penn
State standout Bob White; Clyde Conti, PA Coaches Hall of Famer with
Clarion-Limestone and Slippery Rock Area also graduated from Freeport.

Springdale coach Chuck Wagner won his 250th game as a head coach Friday
when the Dynamos defeated Wilkinsburg, 48-12. Wagner is in his 45th year as a
head coach, starting out at Oakmont High School in 1961, the same year Pres.
John F. Kennedy took office. In fact, he has coached during 10 U.S. presidential
administrations: JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II
