Paul Sarpen
I cover the Chester County portion of District 1 for this site, and have done so since 2002. Chester County includes the Ches-Mont League schools, plus Conestoga from the Central League and Phoenixville from the Pioneer Athletic Conference. Since the Inter-Academic League is not part of the PIAA, I don't cover Malvern Prep. The Ches-Mont League is split up into two divisions. The following schools are in the National Division of the Ches-Mont League- Avon Grove, Bishop Shanahan, Coatesville, Downingtown East, Downingtown West, West Chester East, and West Chester Henderson. The Ches-Mont American division includes the following- Oxford, Octorara, Kennett, Unionville, Great Valley, Sun Valley, and West Chester Rustin. In addition to covering High School football, I have been umpiring baseball since 2003. I have been doing PIAA and American Legion baseball since 2005.

Based on the records of Downingtown East (5-3) and Downingtown West (6-2), the twelfth rendition of the Downingtown Civil War was supposed to be evenly matched on paper.
