After 35 years on the sidelines at Moe DeFrank Field, Head Coach Mike Ricci has decided to call it a career as he will retire at the conclusion of the 2021 high school football season. When Coach Ricci took over the Garnet Valley football program, Garnet Valley was in 2A. Now, Garnet Valley is a 6A powerhouse. Over his tenure of being the head coach of the Garnet Valley football team, he has 250 wins in his career (so far), led Garnet Valley to six Central League Championships (three consecutive), two District One Championships, and 2nd place in States in 2007. His impact is not only felt heavily on the field, but off of it as well. He has made his players, both former and present, better athletes, students, and most importantly better people by the establishment of such an effective culture within the Garnet Valley Jaguar football team. He has left a very large, positive mark not only on the Garnet Valley football team, but the Garnet Valley community as well. One thing is for sure after this announcement: he will be missed.
