District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties – Week 12

York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I action:

The Bobcats of Northeastern (9-3 overall, 5-2 league), the number 2 seed in the District 3 Class AAA Playoff picture, hosted the 7 seed Mid-Penn Keystone Division Indians of Susquehanna Township (9-3 overall, 5-1 league) in the second round and were defeated 42-14. The Indians advance to visit the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 Barons of Manheim Central (10-2 overall, 6-1 league) in the semifinals Friday, November 27, at 7PM. Trael Seegars led the Indians rushing attack with 105-yards (including a 9-yard touchdown), followed by Sylas Pope with 90 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Mari Wright with 17, Andrew Seymour with 4-yards, Ben Moser with no yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), Mike Perry with no yards, Jahlonni Gillis-Miles with minus 2-yards, and Devin Evans with minus 4-yards. Quarterback Moser completed 12 of 19 passes for 237-yards and 3 touchdowns, 4 for 81-yards to Alonzo Rivera (including a 17-yard touchdown), 2 for 52-yards to Seegars (including a 20-yard touchdown), 2 for 40-yards to Chris Ciotti (including a 12-yard touchdown), 2 for 31-yards to Brian Garner, and 1 for 21-yards to Bobby Pressley, for the Indians. Jonah Williams kicked 6 extra points for the Indians. Kody Reeser led the Bobcats rushing attack with 36-yards (including a 2-yard touchdown), followed by Anu Johnson with 36, Shannon Valenti, Jr. with 21 (including a 7-yard touchdown), and Chris Whack with 21-yards. Quarterback Valenti, Jr. completed 2 passes for 40-yards to David Ankney for the Bobcats. Cameron Artman kicked 2 extra points, Michael Cooper returned a punt 80- yards to set up a Bobcats touchdown, and Justin Franklin intercepted a pass, for the Bobcats. Shannon Valenti, Jr. ended his season completing 51 of 120 passes for 1,144-yards and 16 touchdowns, and Anu Johnson led the team in rushing with 164 carries for 913-yards and 7 touchdowns, for the Bobcats.

York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III action:

Canners of Biglerville (8-4 overall, 6-1 league), the number 5 seed in the District 3 Class AAA Playoff picture, visited the number 1 seed Berks Inter County 2 Spartans of Wyomissing (12-0 overall, 6-0 league) in the second round and were defeated 42-14. The Spartans advance to play the Berks Inter County 2 Saints of Berks Catholic (11-1 overall, 5-1 league) for the District Championship at Hersheypark Stadium Friday, November 27, at 7PM. Christian Martir led the Spartans rushing attack with 84-yards, followed by Brandon Westwood with 47 (including touchdowns of 1, 2, and 8-yards), Brandon Workman with 43, Colin Smith with 20, Alberto Caraballo with 18, Austin Kohl with 7, Nasir Combs with 6, Payton Gonzalez with 5, Joe Marez with 4-yards, Abhisek Kalani with 1-yard, and Nolan Babb with minus 3-yards. Quarterback Charlie Tonnesian completed 9 of 12 passes for 144-yards and 3 touchdowns, 1 for 44-yards and a touchdown to Jarvay Bolton, 3 for 28-yards to Smith (including a 3-yard touchdown), 1 for 28-yards to Martir, 2 for 23-yards to Andy Urban (including a 10-yard touchdown), and 2 for 21-yards to Westwood, for the Spartans. Conner Mandel kicked 6 extra points for the Spartans. Colton Sentz led the Canners rushing attack with 42-yards (including a 6-yard touchdown), followed by Malakai with 36, Dayne Showers with 22-yards, Scott Cooper with 1-yard (including a 3-yard touchdown), and Ben Hurda with minus 14-yards. Quarterback Hurda completed 7 of 19 passes for 61-yards, 5 for 52-yards to Nate Newberry, 1 for 5-yards to Showers, and 1 for 4-yards to Sentz, for the Canners. Sentz kicked 2 extra points for the Canners. Hurda ended his season completing 108 of 206 passes for 1,594-yards and 9 touchdowns for the Canners.

As the number 3 seed in the District 3 Class A Playoff picture, the Fighting Irish of York Catholic (6-5 overall, 5-2 league) visited the number 2 seed Mid-Penn Capital Division Steamrollers of Steelton-Highspire (5-6 overall, 4-3 league) in the first round and won 21-14. The Fighting Irish will advance to play the Lions of Camp Hill for the District Championship at Hersheypark Stadium Friday, November 27, at 1PM. Jakkar Kinard led the Fighting Irish rushing attack with 79-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Daniel Yokemick with 60, and Tom Lamont with 4-yards. Quarterback Yokemick completed 9 of 14 passes for 73-yards and 2 touchdowns, 5 for 43-yars to Luke Brennan, 2 for 26-yards to Joe Bauhof (for touchdowns of 22 and 4-yards), and 2for 4-yards to Brandon Creisher, for the Fighting Irish. Brennan kicked 3 extra points, Jake Hamilton recovered a fumble, Kinard returned a kickoff 63-yards to set up a Fighting Irish touchdown, and an unidentified player intercepted a pass with 1:44 left in the game to seal the victory for the Fighting Irish. Jaron Grayer led the Steamrollers rushing attack with 123-yards (including a 33-yard touchdown), followed by Malachu Young with 33, Javion Grant with 11, Quentin Taylor Porter with 23, and Shamari Jones with 7-yards. Quarterback Young completed 2 of 6 passes for 37-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 32-yards and a touchdown to Grant, and 1 f or 5-yards to Porter, for the Steamrollers. Porter ran in for a 2-point conversion for the Steamrollers.

Mid-Penn Conference action:

The Mid-Penn Colonial Division’s Polar Bears of Northern York (8-4 overall, 5-1 league), the number 8 seed in the District 3 Class AAA Playoff picture, visited the number 1 seed Mid-Penn Keystone Division Crusaders of Bishop McDevitt (11-1 overall, 5-1 league) in the second round and were defeated 49-21. The Crusaders advance to host the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 Golden Mules of Solanco (11-1 overall, 6-1 league) Friday, November 27, at 7PM. Mike Jones led the Crusaders rushing attack with 137-yards (including touchdowns of 15, 4, and 8-yards), followed by Tayvon Bowers with 15-yards, and Chase Diehl and Tory Vajdic with no yards each. Quarterback Bowers completed 8 of 11 passes for 243-yards and 3 touchdowns and Diehl completed 2 of 3 passes for 18-yards, for the Crusaders. Bryce Hall caught 3 passes for 146-yards (including touchdowns of 70 and 66-yards from Bowers), Kobay White caught 3 passes for 62-yards (including a 30-yard touchdown from Bowers), Nazir Burnett caught 3 passes for 42-yards, and Michael Tokar caught 1 pass for 11-yards, for the Crusaders. Hall returned a kickoff 95-yards for a touchdown, Nick Miletic kicked 5 extra points, and Jones ran in for a 2-point conversion, for the Crusaders. Bobby Shelly led the Polar Bears rushing attack with 51-yards (including a 10-yard touchdown), followed by Curtis Robison with 45, Michael Kearney with 45 (including an 8-yard touchdown), Wyatt Lewis with 5-yards, and Justin Markle with no yards. Quarterback Robison completed 7 of 17 passes for 49-yards, 2 for 17-yards to Joey Razzano, 1 for 16-yards to Dylan Baxter, 2 for 12-yards to John Kearney, and 2 for 4-yards to Michael Kearney, for the Polar Bears. Michael Kearney returned an interception 29-yards for a touchdown, Aidan Alves kicked 3 extra points, Andrew Swaisgood recovered a fumble, Jared Sutch caused the fumble, and Gunnar Renninger recorded a sack, for the Polar Bears. Bobby Shelly ended the season with 165 carries for 1,092-yards and 8 rushing touchdowns, and 7 pass receptions for 68-yards and 1 touchdown, for the Polar Bears.
