WILSON HONORED AT AWARDS DINNER
Hal
Wilson, a long-time contributor to the Pennsylvania Football News, is one of 13
individuals who distinguished themselves in athletics in Delaware County as well
as all over the United States and in foreign nations as participant, coaches or
writers. He will be inducted by the Delaware County Chapter of
Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on June 29, 2008
Wilson will be inducted as a Sports Historian. He was a medalist
on a district cross country team at Mt. Lebanon High and attended Penn
State University. An avid follower of sports for six decades, his
interests have included scholastic and collegiate athletics, the Olympic
Games and world soccer. He has collections of programs, tickets, pins
and mascots from events held all over the world. Some of his Olympic
memorabilia is on display at the Paterno Library at Penn State and the
Delaware County Historical Society Museum in Chester. He has taught
courses in the Olympic Games at Widener University and is a member of
the International Society of Olympic Historians. He has attended 12
Olympic Games. He also has written on the great football teams of the
state for the Pennsylvania Football News. He has attended soccer’s World
Cup four times.
