For Second Year In A Row, Wyomissing Falls In PIAA State 3A Final To Central Valley.
HERSHEY- Wyomissing came into this 2021-22 football season with a mission to get back to the state championship in 3A after Central Valley rallied in the second half of last year’s title game with a 35-21 victory. In a tight defensive struggle, again, the Spartans found themselves on the short end of a 7-0 defeat to the Warriors on a unseasonably warm but grey day at Hersheypark Stadium.
The Spartans offense struggled against the stout Warriors defense. Rushing for only 106 yards on 36 carries in the game, Thomas Grabowski led Wyomissing with 54 yards on 15 tallies. Quarterback Ben Zechman completed 2 of 10 passes for nine yards. Nevin Carter caught one pass for a 14 yard gain.
Grabowski had a one handed interception near the goal line as Central Valley threatened to score with less than a minute left in the third quarter to keep the score at zero.

Drew Eisenhower had a 63 yard kickoff return after Central Valley scored on a 28 yard Landon Alexander touchdown. The Spartans drove to the Central Valley three yard line but on 4th down Sean FitzSimmons sacked Zechman to kill the drive and basically any chance of Wyomissing trying to tie the score.
After the game a disappointed Bob Wolfrum had this to say about the defeat.
