Yesterday I made the almost sixty mile drive from Buckeye Lake, Ohio to Lexington , Ohio to take in the North Central Ohio Football Coaches Association All Star Game, that was played on the grass, at Lexington high school. If memory serves me correctly, this was my third time taking this game in.
The North got things started with a bang, when Brevan King (Crestview) found Nicholas Somodi (Tiffin Calvert) for a big gain down to the Souths 25-yard line. That play would be the highlight of the North for the entire first half. The South would run off 26 points before the first half ended. The first score came on a 46-yard option pass from East Knox’ Kasson Krownapple to Lucas’ Jeb Grover. The point after attempt from Branden Steckel was missed, leaving this a 6-0 game. The South next score came on a 59-yard pass from Jared Schaefer to Clear Fork teammate Caden Flynn on a ball that bounced off the helmet of Seneca East’s Collon Martin near the 23-yard line, from there Flynn did the rest. Grover was stopped on the two point conversion attempt and this remained a 12-0 game. Noah Creed (Ontario) would get a 26-yard pick six then after the pint after kick, the South had a 19-0 lead. The final first half score came when, Grover converted a fourth and goal from the seven, with a 7-yard run. The point after kick made the score 26-0.

Christiano Murphy (South Central) would get picked off the South pass, just forty seconds into the third quarter. After a sack from Garret Niss (Ontario) on North quarterback, King, the North would put their first points on the board. The score came on a 14-yard pass from King to Bucyrus’ Harley Robinson-Koge. The kick off of the powerful leg of Austin Roblin (Plymouth) was good, to make this a 26-7 game. The drive went for 42-yards and took 8 plays.

With special rules allowing the team that is behind by X-amount of points, the North had the South kickoff, after the North score. Kaiden Thomas (Lucas) of the South would recover the onside kick. The North would get a sack from Blaine Swartzmiller (Seneca East) but the South recovered nicely with a 31-yard touchdown pass from Shaffer to Flynn to make this a 32-7 game. The point after was blocked by Josh Bever (Ashland).

With 2:53 left in the third Swartzmiller threw to Blake Sparks (Wynford) for a 22-yard score, making this a 32-13 game, as the two point conversion run was snuffed out by the South. The South would use a King Pass to Robinson-Koge that gained 34-yards and a fourth and three conversion run from Swartzmiller to set up their final score in the third. That score came on a 5-yard run from Trevon Raymore (Norwalk) The point after kick made this a 32-20 game.

The fourth quarter would see four scores and two interceptions to keep the nice size crowd into the game.
The picks both were from the South. Armon Huguely Mansfield Senior) made a leaping pick, with 5:28 left in the game and later on Brice Swindall (Loudonville) got his pick.

The scores went like this. First Kasson Krownapple hauled in a pass, for a 36 yard touchdown, the point after kick gave the South a 39-20 lead. The North responded with a 6-yard run from Swartzmiller. The point after kicked closed the South’s lead to 39-26. The South took advantage of their first pick in the quarter, when Krownapple galloped to 45-yard touchdown. The point after kick gave the South a 46-26 lead.

The North ended the scoring when, Raymore scored from about 60-yards out on a sweet run to make this a 46-32 game.
