Another Friday night brought another trip to Bainbridge to watch the Paint Valley Bearcats host Zane Trace Pioneers. This matchup was the same matchup I have seen many moons ago when I made my first trip over to Bainbridge. This one like the first won would be won by the Bearcats in going-away fashion. Before I get into the game, as always I wanted to thank Coach Dye and Coach Cooper for the talk after the game. I am thankful you guys all seem to like the work I have done and I am ever so grateful to PAFOOTBALLNEWS for allowing me to be part of their large team.

This game started like a wildfire burning out of control. First Brendon Lytle fielded the opening kickoff near his own 15-yard line and did not stop running until he was all the way down to the Bearcats 11-yard line. Ont the first play from scrimmage Ben Nichols broke to his right and capped of the one play drive with his 11-yard run. Nichols also booted the PA.T. to give the pioneers the 7-0 lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Cavan Cooper went for an 85-yard kickoff return. Cooper said after the game he told me he was not touched at all on the run. Dax Estep locked this game up at seven with his P.A.T. The two scores came with just:45 seconds gone off of the clock. After the Bearcats defense made fast work of the Pioneers offense, Cooper would pick up close to 34-yards after he ran over Christian Lindsey. Cordell Grubb ended the 71-yard drive with A 18-yard run to make this A 14-7 game.
Just A shade over four minutes later THE PAFOOTBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE GAME Tramel Byrd outran the Pioneers offense to score from 68-yards out to put the Bearcats up 20-7. Byrd had close to 250 yards on 13 carries give or take one. With 2:04 left in the quarter, the Pioneers fumbled twice on the same play, with Nick Mills recovering the 2nd one for Paint Valley. The Bearcats offense would be held scoreless on the drive and the quarter ended soon after.

Just:09 seconds into the 2nd quarter Trent Mettler picked off a Nichols pass. Almost 5 minutes later Grubb coughed the ball up and the Pioneers came away with the ball. This would become A 26-7 game, when Byrd hit pay dirt from 45 yards out, with 3:05 left in the half. On third and fourteen the Pioneers nearly picked the first down up but Connor Free got A paw on the ball and the pass was incomplete. Byrd would make A nice catch with:52 seconds left in the half and thanks to A big block from Cole Miller, he was able to take the ball to the Pioneers 3-yard line. Byrd would ease in from 3-yards out to make this A 32-7 game. with:49 seconds left in the half. Nichols came A eyelash away from breaking off A big run off of A quarterback

draw but Mills made a great stop to hold him to just A 2-yard gain. The half would come to A close with the Bearcats still leading 32-7.

With just:22 seconds gone off of the third-quarter clock, Byrd broke A tackle then broke off A 40-yard run. Then with 10:21 showing on the clock, Cooper threw A backward pass to Estep, who then threw the rock downfield to Miller for the 47-yard touchdown. After the game Coach Dye asked me if I knew the play was coming. I told him I knew he was going to run it but had to be honest and say I did not see it coming when it came. Cooper found Beau Blankenship on the two-point conversion, making this A 40-7 game. The other half of the PAFOOTBALL NEWS CO=PLAYER OF THE GAME, Caden Smith would stop Nichols for a 2-yard loss. Unofficially Smith had 10 tackles. The last big play of the third quarter came on A run of nearly 30-yard by Grubb.

The Pioneers refused to hang their head low in the final frame of play and this showed bigtime when Nichols broke off A run of over 80-yards for A touchdown. Smith would get to Nichols and stop him short of the goal line on the two-point conversion try keeping this A 40-13 game. The Bearcats offense would cap off A 7-play, 46-yard drive, with A 5-yard run by Freshman Dom Chambers. Chambers is going to be A star very soon for the Bearcats. The P.A.T. by Estep would make this A 47-13 game. With the Bearcats JV players in the Pioneers got A 50-yard catch and run from the very talented Nalin Robinson. The Bearcats starters sprinted back onto the field but Nichols still ran to A 10-yard run down to the Bearcats 9-yard line. The games last big play came on A Smith sack of Nichols on fourth and goal.
