Saturday afternoon I opted to make the drive to Columbus to watch the Columbus Crusaders battle Dohn Community. This was my first time to not only see a game at Cookston Field but to see the Crusaders play. Before I get into the game. I wanted to think the ladies working the gate, for the program that included the Crusaders current roster and for their hospitality. There was no Dohn roster and I can not find one online. I have contacted them to try and get one.

Mohamed Kamara would knock a pass away from a would-be receiver, forcing Dohn Community into a fourth and ten, with 7:07 left in the opening quarter. This quarter set the stage for what we were going to see for the next three and that was little scoring, a lot of defense, and a boatload of the refs throwing flags. The Crusaders defense made the next big play of the quarter, when Vonnie Johnson smashed #1 for Dohn, for a 7-yard loss. Next was a nice play by Dohn to end the quarter, where #7 tackled Markus Frazier for a 3-yard loss.

With 8:38 left in the half #42 for Dohn sacked Jackson Debolt, for A 4-yard loss. The clock had a little over 4:00 minutes left on it when David Pacheco made a nice catch to take the ball down to the Dohn 4 yard line. There was a run up the middle by the Crusaders and coming out of the pile with the football was #5 for Dohn. On the ensuing drive #3 for Dohn coughed the ball up and making the recovery for the Crusaders was John LaPat. The Crusaders broke the scoreless tie when Frazier powered in from 2 yards out. Maurice Diawera blasts the P.A.T over the crossbar, making this a 7-0 game, with 1:13 left in the half.

Greg Valentine would use a muff on the snap from the center to sack the Dohn quarterback for a loss of two. That led to Johnson blocking a Dohn punt a short time later. With 9:47 left in the third Pacheco found a hole and picked up 10 yards. Then Jahi Glass had a nice run to give the Crusaders a first and goal from the 5-yard line. The drive fizzled out after that and on A field goal try, a bad snap would end with Jeffery Blankson being tackled way back at the thirty. The Dohn offense would throw A pick on the ensuing drive, with Blankston registering the pick. A little over A minuter later #50 scooped of a Crusaders fumble and ran it back to the Crusaders 33-yard line. Runs by #21 and #16 gave Dohn A first and goal at the 5-yard line. The Crusaders made a stop on a run when Glass stuff the ball carrier before he could get going. After the ball had moved back to the 11-yard line #10 scored on a nice run, then #21 made this an 8-7 game when he converted a two-point try. The last big play of the third quarter shockingly was an offensive play, with Jack South hitting Jeffery Blankson for a 16 yard gain.

Glass and Jackson DeBolt got to #5 of Dohn for a 7-yard loss, with 10:45 left. The Crusaders punt defense got a nice play when Kamara, Jerich Etok, and Johnson tackled #10 on the Dohn 28 yard line. With 4:40 left Glass made a nice move on a punt return, that allowed him to go 47 yards for A Crusaders touchdown. The P.A.T. made this a 14-8 game. Frazier would pick off a Pass for the Crusaders with 4:20 showing on the clock and then the games last big play came when Blankson score on a pick-six from 40 yards out making the final score 20-8.
