Tonight I drove back to Lancaster to watch Fisher Catholic host Miller, at Fulton Field. The best part of catching A night game at Fulton Field is the field is well lit and there is enough seats that you never have to worry about not being able to see the game. Both teams entered with identical 2-3 records. Fisher was on A two-game win streak, while Miller has lost two straight.

With both almost running the ball every play, the game would fly, if not for 10 fumbles throughout the game one would not have had time to set down before the final whistle blew. With 9:12 left in the opening quarter Colton Yeager, the Irish quarterback put the ball on the ground with Trevor Hoffman of the Falcons making the recovery. Neither team would do anything until the 5:05 mark when Trey McCoy got to Alex Smith of the Irish for A loss of 6-yards. The next big play occurred with 4;05 left in the quarter when Yeager used his feet to gain 19 yards, on third and sixteen.

The 2nd quarter was like the first it would fly by with a lot of defense being played, unlike the first quarter we would see A score though it came at the very end of the quarter. Alex Smith would put the ball on the ground just eight seconds in and the Falcons Kylan McClain came up with the rock. Tommy Mitchell would pick up 21-yards to give the Falcons A much needed first down. Trey McCoy would recover his own fumble but recovered it in doing so he took A 7-yard loss, when Frank Kavanaugh of the Irish tripped him up. When the Irish got the ball back Yeager would spring to left to gain 25-yards. The first-year starting quarterback for the Irish is fast and squares his shoulders up as soon as he can to get up field. Jack Tencza would carry the rock for A 15-yard gain and then he would run to the Falcons 8-yard line on his next carry. The drive ended when Landon Evans recovered another Irish fumble, with 6:22 left in the half. Miller would gain 9-yards on their first three plays and line up to go for it on fourth and one, but before the ball could be snapped Evans jumped and A punt followed. The clock read 5:32 when Calib Russell dropped Tencza for A loss of four. Fisher would have the ball snap over the punter’s head resulting in A 15-yard loss, with 3:30 left in the half. The last six seconds of the quarter also was the most exciting of the half. First Yeager hit Chase Springer for 23-yards all the way to the 8-yard line of the Falcons. Then as the clock expired JJ Viau had his 25-yard field goal blocked by Quin McCabe but an inadvertent whistle negated the block and as faith would have it the next kick was good to give Fisher Catholic the 3-0 lead.

The Falcons defense got a nice play from Calib Russell when he got to Yeager for a loss of seven yards, with 9:33 left in the third quarter. Yeager would get the last laugh when he lowered his shoulder to bust through A tackle to score from 33-yards out. Viau increased the lead to 10-0 with his P.A.T. Miller would see the defense come up with the last big play of the quarter when Kyler Cook knocked away A pass on fourth and three.

With 9:40 left in the game and facing A fourth and seven the Falcons elected to go for it, that decision turned out poorly when Lane Holdren stopped Tommy Mitchell just short of the chains. At the 8:00 mark, Yeager sprinted to his left to gain 22-yards. The drive continued when Alex Smith went left for A 16-yard gain. The ten-play, 81-yard drive ended on A 2-yard touchdown run from Yeager, with the P.A.T. being true we had A 17-0 game, with 3:43 left and that would also be the final score. In the last 3:19 of the contest, each team had A nice play. For Fisher, it was A pick by Yeager, with A nice return and for the Falcons, it was A 29-yard run by Mitchell.
