Tonight I made my first trip since 2016 to Baltimore, Ohio to watch the Liberty Union Lions host the Buckeye Valley Barons. Entering the game Liberty Union stood 4-1, while the Barons came in with A 3-2 mark.  On my last trip to Liberty Union stadium I remember the P.A. system was low and the lighting was very dark. This time around, I set on the home side for the first time and noticed the P.A. system was much improved as were the lights.
The defense was the name of the game early on in this one and with 10:36 showing on the first-quarter clock, Hunter Clements got to the Lions quarterback Aiden Jones, for a loss of 6-yards to force the Lions into A 4th and 16 situation. The Barons offense would get a nice catch from Mitchel Melfe on A pass thrown by Anthony Hughes.  The rest of the quarter was nothing but solid defense from each squad. Hughes would get sacked by Reed Farmer, then:35 seconds later Hughes got picked off by Hunter Putnam.  Carson Vaulx would pick up A sack on Jones. At the 3:54 mark the Lions got A pick from Eddie Henderly on A Hughes pass. Later in the quarter, Hughes would be sacked by Dylan Anthony.  The last defensive play of the quarter came when, Michael Franckhauser picked off A pass.  10 passes were thrown in the quarter, with three being intercepted and another pick being dropped.

Hughes would use his feet to pick up 8-yards to set the offense, with fourth down and one to go. The Lions defensive line got A nice push enabling them to stop Andre Ash short of the chains. The Lions would get A 45-yard run from Casey Fleahman, down to the Barons 45 yard line but A holding call would bring the ball back to the 38-yard line, with 8:15 left in the half. From there Jones used his speed to go the final 32-yards for the game’s first score. After Storm Wolfel nailed the P.A.T. the scoreboard read 7-0 Lions, with 7:25 left.  Just:21 seconds later Ty Boggs picked up A backward pass by the Barons and he raced all the way down to the Barons 5 yard line. Fleahman plowed in from 2-yards out thanks to his offensive line making things easy and all of A sudden we had a 14-0 game, with 6:25 left in the half. In the final 3:00 minutes of the half, the Lions would get A 37-yard run from Fleahman, followed by A 15-yard catch by Jacob Denny, the drive was capped of with A 2-yard plunge by Fleahman making this A 21-0 game at the half.
Ash would get the third quarter off to A good start for Buckeye Valley when he raced for A gain of 19-yards. The drive was able to continue when Alex Contreras somehow caught A 28-yard pass with a defender draped all over him. Felipe Scharff ended the drive with A big 40-yard field goal to make this A 21-3 game, with 9;10 left in the third. The kick easily would have been good from about 47 yards. The kid has A bigtime leg. The Lions would answer with A 12-play, 75-yard drive, that ended on A 16-yard run from Cayden Carroll making this A 28-3 game, with 4:22 left in the quarter. The drive had ten running plays leaving to plays for passes.  In the final 3:52 of the quarter Hughes would be sacked by Anthony and twice by Jacob McClean. The Lions lines were the dominating force in this one, with both units doing A great job. To make the ending to the quarter worse Hughes threw another pick with #72  doing the deed(not on any roster I have).

Franckhauser made A catch early in the fourth and was hit like A hurricane by Eddie Henderly hold the play to A tiny gain. The Barons got A little break when
Carson Vaulx picked up A Jones fumble, at the 9:54 mark.  After getting back on the field the Lions offense would get A touchdown pass from Jones to Jacob Denny. Denny broke A tackle then tippy-toed the sideline somehow staying in bounds to get the score.  The P.A.T. from Wolfel out of the hold of Gavin Sims would make this A 35-3 game. At the 5:43 mark, A pass by Hughes got tipped by Henderly then picked off by Hunter Putnam. Braden Shreyer would pick up 36 yards on two carries, with the last one being A 4-yard score making this A 41-3 game, with 3:48 left.  Hughes would put the ball on the ground at the 2:52 mark and making the recovery for the Lions was Landon Piccirillo. The final score would come on the next Lions drive and that was A 4-yard run by Troy Myers making this a 48-3 game.
