Last night I made my first ever drive to Knightstown, Indiana to watch Knightstown host Eastern Hancock. Coming into the games Eastern Hancock came in at 2-2, while Knightstown was a perfect 3-0. I really thought in comparing scores and doing some reading this was going to be a good game, with the home team posting A close win. Well after talking to a well-informed fan,  Mr. Montgomery, I was told this was going to be very one-sided with Eastern winning. When all was said and done, Mr. Montgomery was 100% correct. In case you were wondering Mr. Montgomery is the father of the head coach from Knightstown.

Before getting into the game I want to thank Knightstown athletic director, Matt Martin for getting me on the press pass list and for taking the time to chat with me before the game. I also wanted to thank Mr. Montgomery for the chat and the rosters. This one according to the radio the game was sold out (thanks to the covid-19 rules)

The Panthers kicked off to the Royals giving the home team the chance for the games first big defensive play and that came just:16 seconds into the game, with Sam Thomas sacking Houston Swan for a loss of 12-yards. Swan soon shrugged off the sack, with A 22-yard pass completion to Cole Rainbolt. The same combo would strike again for a gain of 13-yards. From there Swan found J.P. Fuchs for a 2-yard touchdown. Jacob Johnson was stopped by Parker Schock on the two-point conversion try to keep this A 6-0 game, with 7:26 left in the quarter. In the next:18 seconds, the team traded fumbles. First Landon O’Neil recovered A Knightstown fumble, then on the next play, Schock recovered A Royals fumble. The Panthers would convert A fourth and two when Ben Newby muscled his way to move the chains with the short gain. A short time later on the drive, Newby converted another fourth down, with another short gain. The quarter ended after THE PAFOOTBALLNEWS PLAYER OF THE GAME, Conner Knudson got to Chase Richmond for an
11-yard loss.

The 2nd quarter started with Richmond getting sacked by Wes Kane, for A loss of 9-yards and then Knudson teamed up with Kane to get to Richmond for A 5-yard loss. After getting the ball back the Royals got a 47-yard completion to Zach Arnold, with 10:11 left in the half. Liam Orcutt would stop Arnold for a short loss but the Royals offense overcame the negative play, with A Swan to Rainbolt 20-yard touchdown. The same duo teamed up to convert A two-point conversion, to make this A 14-0 game, with 8:44 left in the half. Arnold would pick off A Richmond pass, he took the ball inside the Panthers 10-yard line but A 10-yard penalty was called on the return to take the ball back to the 20-yard line. Ten seconds later Arnold sprinted in from 20-yards out for another Royals score. Fuchs showed off A strong leg on his P.A.T. to make this A 21-0 game. New would pick up 54-yards on A strong run, then he sprinted the final 15-yards for A quick Panthers touchdown. Wade Tooth made this A 21-7 game, with his P.A.T. Jarrett Smith picked off A Swan pass, with 5:40 left in the fast-paced first half. The Panthers offense would be shut down quickly after the pick forcing them to punt the ball away, but Newby fake the kick and took off running only to be pounced on by Knudson well short of the chains. The last big play of the half came on a 31-yard catch by Newby.

A near 60-yard punt return from Rainbolt made this A 28-7 game, with the P.A.T. being true. On the return, Rainbolt broke two tackles and cut back across the field to get into the end zone. Facing A fourth and five, with 6:22 left in the third, the Panthers would go for it and fail when A pass fell to the turf. The Royals needed just 2 plays to go the 34-yards needed for their next score. The scoring play came on A Swan to Fuchs from 19 yards out. The P.A.T. was hit by Fuchs to make this A 35-7 game, with 5:45 left in the third. On the ensuing kickoff, the PAFOOTBALLNEWS hit of the came when Ashton Smith crushed Jarrett Smith. Richmond would be hit hard by Tyler Speer and Knudson for another short loss. Knudson would stop Robert Porter after A nice catch to bring up A fourth and six, with 3:22 showing on the third-quarter clock. The games last touchdown came on A Swan to Rainbolt 33-yard pass. Fuchs blasted his P.A.T. to make this A 42-7 game, with 55.6 seconds left in the quarter.

The final quarter flew by with the running clock rule being enforced. Both teams emptied the benches as best as they could, giving the younger players A chance to get some Friday night action.
