I made my 2nd drive to White Field to watch Newark Catholic play host to the Northridge Vikings. At one time driving to White Field to watch Newark Catholic play was something I did five to six times a season, but several years back, they stopped playing their home games on Saturday. The Green Wave limped into this one with A 1-2 record. Losing to a very good Heath squad and A gritty Johnstown team. For the Vikings, the Covid-19 season has seen them also come in with A 1-2 record.

Kyle Langenbrunner broke free for A 54-yard gain to get the Green Wave rolling, after converting A fourth and one, via the ole quarterback sneak the Green Wave used another quarterback run from Cole Canter to get on the scoreboard. A P.A.T. from Ryan Auer made this a 7-0 game, with 9:05 left in the opening quarter. The Green Wave defense led by Brendan Sheehan and Donnell Wallace got to Carl Ferguson for a 1-yard loss. Sheehan would go on to have his name called over the P.A. many more times as the Sophomore turned in A tremendous game. After getting the ball back Canter found Langenbrunner for A 16-yard gain. One the 2nd and last play of the drive Canter made like Braxton Miller by outrunning the defense for A 25-yard touchdown to give Newark Catholic A  14-0 game, with 7:24 left. Ferguson running from the Wing T formation would be crushed by Drew Hess, putting the Vikings in a fourth and eleven situation. Canter and Tanner Elwell hooked up for A 14-yard pass play. Elwell would find himself wide open in the end zone with 1:13 left in the quarter and Canter threw a near-perfect pass in his direction, what looked like A sure touchdown went for not as Elwell dropped the ball.

With 10:14 left in the half Canter threw one of his few bad passes that the Vikings Chad Bailey picked off after the pass was tipped.
Ferguson would be sacked by Cole Sherburn putting the Vikings into A fourth and nineteen situation. The Green Wave offense picked up A big first down when Tyson Mummey picked up 6-yards to move the chains on A fourth and five play. Canter would find Mummey for another Green Wave touchdown, with 4:19 left in the half to make this A 21-0 game. The Vikings would go for it on fourth and seven but the Newark Catholic defense was up for the challenge, with Sheehan stopping Lane Hess well short of the chains. The last score of the half came on A Canter to Brandon Buchanan 44-yard pass. The Green Wave would take the 28-0 lead into the half. At this point in the game, the Vikings had accumulated just 18-yards unofficially.

The Vikings defense would get A sack on Canter when Adian Isler teamed up with Isaiah Hartman got to the Newark Catholic quarterback. The last score of the game put the running clock into effect and that score came on A 55-yard touchdown catch by Elwell, who made up for his rare drop earlier in the game. The P.A.T. made this a 35-0 game.

The final frame flew by as the third one did but not before Caden Canning got A pick for the Green Wave. Neither team moved the ball much in the quarter but the Green Wave did take the ball deep inside the Vikings territory late in the game but let the clock run out instead of running another play. As they say, you win with class and you lose with class. Newark Catholic won by class tonight.
