District 10 AAA Playoff Preview

The District 10 AAA Playoffs begin Friday, November 3rd.

#1 Sharon vs. #8 Fairview – 7 pm – @ Wilmington High School

#2 Hickory vs. #7 General McLane – 7 pm – @ Greenville High School

#3 Grove City vs. #6 Fort LeBoeuf – 7 pm @ Slippery Rock High School

#4 North East vs. #5 Oil City – 7 pm – @ Veterans Memorial Stadium

Here’s a look at all eight Class AAA schools.

About the Sharon Tigers

Record 7-2 – Seed 1

Summary – Sharon enters the postseason as the top seed and will look to win their first district crown since winning three in a row from 2017-19. Mister Ham has thrown for 938 yards and rushed for 651 while accounting for 16 total touchdowns. Cortez Nixon has chipped in with 587 rushing yards and four scores. C.C. Harrison has 30 receptions for 378 yards and six touchdowns. Bryson Robertson and Brodie Miller have 92 and 81 tackles, respectively, with Miller adding seven sacks. Bishop Root has four interceptions for Tiger’s defense that only surrenders 5.6 points per game. Sharon opens the playoffs against Fairview.

About the Hickory Hornets

Record 7-2 – Seed 2

Summary – Hickory enters the playoffs as the second seed after a 7-2 regular season campaign. The Hornets will look to win their first district title since 2020 after falling to Slippery Rock 28-0 in last season’s semifinals. Zander Telesz has passed for 1070 yards while rushing for 378 yards and accounting for 2o total touchdowns. Freshman runningback Kelvin Morrison leads the Hornet’s ground game with 643 yards and six touchdowns. Sean Kennedy has rushed for a team-high seven touchdowns and has 398 yards on the season. Tylon Cousin leads the team in receptions with 22 and touchdowns with five. Timmy Krivosh leads Hickory with 97 tackles.

About the Grove City Eagles

Record 6-3 – Seed 3

Summary – The two-time defending district champions enter the postseason with a 6-3 record, earning the third seed. Grove City will look for the three-peat as they open the postseason against Fort LeBoeuf. The Eagles are led by senior quarterback Hunter Hohman, who has 1922 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 755 yards and 11 touchdowns. Nathan Greer and Gavin Lutz have 736 and 566 yards receiving, respectively, with Greer catching seven scores and Lutz two. The Eagles are playing without Joey Hathaway, who lost for the season in the Eagles’ fourth game. Bode Stevenson has 78 tackles on defense, while Hohman has 77.

About the North East Grape Pickers

Record 8-2 – Seed 4

Summary – In Jovon Johnson’s second season as ‘Pickers head coach, North East did a complete 360 and went from 2-8 to 8-2 and captured the Region 5 title. The Grape Pickers completed their first winning season since 2015 and will now attempt to win their first playoff game since 2009 when they beat Oil City 24-14 in the opening round of the District 10 AA playoffs. Coincidently, North East takes on the Oilers in the opening round. Quarterback Jackson Humes has passed for 2045 yards and 28 touchdowns. Jamari Curlett leads all receivers with 1147 yards and 18 touchdowns. Curlett also leads North East in rushing with 508 yards and five touchdowns, while Humes has rushed for 380 yards and four scores. Jacob Babo leads the Grape Pickers with 89 tackles. Logan Latimore has added nine sacks.

About the Oil City Oilers

Record 6-3 – Seed 5

Summary – Oil City enters the playoffs as the sixth seed and will travel to Erie to take on North East. The Oilers will attempt to win their first District 10 title since 2020. Ethen Knox has rushed for 1888 yards and recently became the all-time leading rusher in District 10 history. Knox has 28 touchdowns on the year. Cole Findlay has thrown for 446 yards and five touchdowns. Kevin Pearsall leads the Oilers defense with 73 tackles.

About the Fort LeBoeuf Bison

Record 7-3 – Seed 6

Summary – After dropping two games in a row, Fort LeBoeuf gained momentum entering the playoffs following a 43-7 win over Sharpsville last week. The Bison will take on the two-time defending champions in Grove City. Fort LeBoeuf is led offensively by quarterback Conner McChesney and tailback Aiden Lesik.

About the General McLane Lancers

Record 6-4 – Seed 7

Summary – General McLane enters the playoffs with a 6-4 record, earning the seventh seed. After a problematic 3-game skid that saw the Lancers posting a 3-4 record – General McLane enters the playoffs and has won three in a row, all by the mercy rule. Issac Zietz and Matt Caro have combined to pass for nearly 1,500 yards and 21 touchdowns. Magnus Lloyd has rushed for over 1000 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead the Lancers ground game. Jacob Zietz has caught 60 passes for 927 yards and 15 scores.

About the Fairview Tigers

Record 6-4 – Seed 8

Summary – Fairview will look to win their first playoff game since 2015 when they beat Slippery Rock 28-21. The Tigers enter the postseason as the eighth seed following a 6-4 season. It will be Tigers vs. Tigers as the number one seed; Sharon will be waiting. Fairview enters the playoffs as hot as anyone as they knocked off Region 5 champion North East 28-14 before cruising past Northwestern 43-6. Tigers quarterback Vincent Campoli leads the way, accounting for 1,787 yards of offense and 24 scores. Tyler Benford has rushed for 524 yards and seven touchdowns. Jacob Harkness and Javis Nesbitt have 86 and 84 tackles between the two of them, leading the Fairview defense. Harkness has added six interceptions.
