The BG Marauders walked away from their match against Homer Center with a 28-0 shutout, improving their record to 8-4 on the year. They’ll be moving on to the District Final next week.

Guilfoyle started the game off with two scores from QB Karson Kiesewetter. Both touchdowns came off of the stout defensive performance from BG. Later in the game, CB Cooper Rother recovered his own forced fumble and didn’t look back, taking it to the end zone for a touchdown.

The rare playoff shutout can be accredited to monster performances from the likes of DL Colin Butler, who looked seemingly unblockable, and others such as safety Vincent Cioffari and Dom Yanoshak. The defensive run stop was stellar, and Guilfoyle rarely allowed Homer Center into Marauder territory.

The offensive line also deserves credit for the rushing lanes that opened up for the Marauders, with seniors Anthony Edwards and Aiden Bender paving the way. The rushing game was certainly a factor in the win, and QB Karson Kiesewetter and RB Cooper Rother saw the benefits.

After the impressive win, the Marauders will move on and face Juniata Valley in this district final next week.
