The Williams Valley Vikings overcame a big obstacle last night when they lost senior standout Jesse Engle to an ankle injury late in the first half. The Vikings held off a late charge from Mahanoy Area to advance to the District XI Class 1a Championship game vs Tri Valley, a team the Vikings came back to win against a few weeks ago 35 to 28. The Bulldogs advance to the District XI Class 1a by defeating Nativity BVM  28 to 14 last night. Next week’s game sets up a rematch of last year’s DXI Championship game in which Williams Valley defeated the Bulldogs 36 to 7. In the previous meeting between these two schools a few weeks ago, Williams Valley came back from down 21 to 7 at the half, with QB Bryce Herb throwing for 3 touchdowns. Tri Valley racked up 252 total yard, and Williams Valley lead with 354 total yards.

Last year’s District XI Class 4a champion, Pottsville Area Crimson Tide(6-2) lost to Wilson Area Warriors(3-5) in the District XI Class 4a Quarterfinal game last night 18 to 14, an upset if you will. Last year the Tide defeated the Warriors 42 to 20 but this year, turnovers cost the Tide as they fumbled the ball 4 times, losing 3 of them, as well as the 7 penalties for 54 yards didn’t help. The Tide season ends while racking up a game high 283 total yards.

Shenandoah Valley and Pine Grove played their final regular season games of the season with the Blue Devils losing to Kutztown 36 to 0 and Pine Grove defeating Pequea Valley 43 to 6. Pine Grove used a balanced attack to rack up a total of 484 yards while giving up just 67.

Lehighton Indians kept the game somewhat close until the second half when Northwestern Lehigh outscored the Indians 28 to 6 and racked up 593 total yard in the win 54 to 19.
