Every Monday we will bring you Chris Masse’s 4th Annual Sun-Gazette coverage area Top 50, broken up in segments of ten. Today we present numbers 30-21:

No. 20: Robert Brown, Wellsboro: an excellent 4-year starter who was one of area’s best linebackers in 2015 and 16 before unselfishly moving up front last year and excelling as a defensive tackle. huge reason Wellsboro defense has been so good last 3 seasons.

Brown made more than 200 tackles his first 2 years, playing linebacker but Wellsboro needed help up front and Brown made the switch, solidifying a strong front and helping Hornets lead D4 in defense for 2nd straight year. Super run stuffer.

Brown has made 271 career tackles, helping Wellsboro win 2 league titles and a D4 crown. Also an excellent offensive lineman who helped the Hornets flourish last season and has played fullback in past. Versatile and all-around strong player.

No. 19: Tucker Kreisher, Williamsport: One of the district’s best offensive linemen, Kreisher has been a huge part of Williamsport’s success last 2 seasons. 3-year starting senior has provided excellent blocking and helped ignite an explosive offense while imposing will.

Kreisher, a 6-2, 275-pounder who is strong, moves well and will be leader of the line this fall. Helped Williamsport have a 2,000-yard rusher and 2,000-yard passer as a sophomore and average more than 30 points and nearly 400 yards last season.

Kreisher was vital to helping the Williamsport offense remain explosive last season despite the loss of Treyson Potts. He also could play big role along defensive line this season. Success starts up front and Kreisher a good lineman to build around

No. 18: Garrett David, North Penn-Mansfield: 1st team Sun-Gazette all-star linebacker last fall, David has topped 100 tackles in each of last 2 seasons & has developed into 1 of D4’s premier playmakers at that position. Has a nose for the  ball, strong, fast and covers good ground.

David averaged 11.9 tackles a game last season, finishing with 131. topped 10 tackles 6 times and 13 of his 20 tackles were solos in comeback win vs Troy. also a good pass rusher who had 5 sacks and an interception. has 271 tackles last 2 seasons

David is a fantastic defensive weapon who also could do damage offensively this season. Good blocker who ran for 172 yards and 4 TDs and averaged 6.9 yards per carry. David is a leader on both sides of the ball

No. 17: Hunter Budman, Montgomery: A four-year starter put together 1 of best seasons in program history last year, finishing as area’s 3ird-leading rusher & scoring more TDs than all but 1 area player. Led resurgent Montgomery in rushing & receiving, 1828 total yards, 23 TDs

Budman earned NTL-II Player of the Year honors, running for 1,490 yards and 21 touchdowns while catching 26 passes for 338 yards and 2 TDs. Helped Montgomery make 4-win improvement, reach first D4 final since 2000. Two 200-yard games; 6 100-yard games

Budman can churn out yards and also break long scoring plays. Montgomery’s leading rusher in the 2000s and has increased yardage totals each season, becoming one of district 4’s premier running backs. 100-yard rushing game in D4 semis; 91 receiving yards in final.

No. 16: Coleman Good, Muncy: A 4-year starting quarterback and safety who shines on both sides of the ball. Extremely athletic, intelligent and a strong leader. Two-time 1,000-yard passer, dual threat who can do as much damage on the ground and 1 of area’s best safeties

Good helped Muncy capture 2016 D4 A title & last year’s NTL-II title, throwing for 1,262 yards & 16 touchdowns, while running for 345 yds, 3 scores. He has thrown for nearly 3,000 yards over last 2 seasons while also running for several more. just as valuable defensively

Good averaged a team-best 7.9 tackles per game, going over 10 tackles twice. He also intercepted a pass, made 15 tackles against HAC-III champion South and provides a good security blanket for Muncy’s cornerbacks while also playing run well

No. 15: Chris Klem, South Williamsport: Do not be surprised at all if Klem is much higher on this list by season’s end. The senior linebacker has all-state potential & is 1 of the best outside linebackers in D4. Excellent playmaker who is receiving some Division I interest

Klem vital to South going 9-2 last year & repeating as HAC-III champion. Has added a lot of muscle & combines strength, size, speed and intelligence. Klem helped the defense go at times last year & was in beast mode during a Week 3 win at Hughesville. tough vs pass and run

Klem an excellent player for a fairly young defense to build around. hard worker who also could make a nice impact offensively at tight end. will be 1 of most valuable players for a team that likely will be a D4 Class A title contender

No. 14: Hunter Brown, Wellsboro: Like his brother Robert, Hunter Brown has been absolutely vital 2 Wellsboro having 1 of district 4’s best defenses last 2 seasons. Excellent defensive end who led Wellsboro in tackles & sacks last season. Averaged 6.5 tackles per game with 7 sacks

Brown was among area leaders in sacks & was outstanding off the edge. Helped Wellsboro repeatedly stuff the run and wreak havoc in the backfield. tall and fast, the 6-4, 200-pounder has helped Wellsboro D score more TDs than it has allowed last 2 years. Nose for the ball

Brown recovered 5 fumbles, returned an interception for a touchdown. had 2 10-tackles games and added 14 hurries. Also likely to play a vital role up front for the offense and a terrific player for Wellsboro to build around following 21 wins last 2 years

No. 13: Timmy Ward, Canton: An all-state wide receiver as a sophomore, Ward burst onto the scholastic scene and was a force nearly every week. Fast, tough and having excellent hands, Ward caught a Canton record 51 passes for 925 yards and 5 TDs.

Ward finshed 2nd in area in catches & yards during regular season and also did damage as a rusher at times. Ward was absolutely sensational in Week 2 vs D4 A champ Wyalusing catching 13 passes for 249 yards, had an Odell Beckham like catch to highlight the performance.

No. 12: Carmen Barone, Loyalsock: Tremendous 2-way lineman Barone is D4’s strongest players…like literally. Benched 185 pounds a D4 best 47 times at the D4 combine, 17 more than the 2nd place finisher. Oh yeah, he is quite a player too and vital to D4 champs last fall

Barone, a senior defensive tackle, was super in playoffs last season & force in D4 final. Averaged 4.1 tackles a game & freed up linebackers 2 make plays. quick & powerful, Barone made 11 tackles for loss and can knife through defenders. 3-year starter and 1 of team’s MVPs

Barone is receiving significant college interest, including some D1, (offers from Citadel, Sacred Heart, St Francis) and is part of a strong o-line that helped Loyalsock average more than 30 points and 350 yards per game last fall. Could be poised for his best season yet

No. 11: Max Moyers, Lewisburg: few area players have had quite a freshman season like Moyers did. he made a huge splash into the high school scene, taking first carry 78 yards for TD and then becoming first area freshman to ever top 1000 rushing. Moyers was outstanding and just grew better as season went on. finished with 1,115 yards and 12 touchdowns. Topped 90 yards in each of last 4 games and ran for 241 yards and 247 in last two, the final coming vs D4 AAA champ Loyalsock. fast, strong and elusive yards
