Q&A

What made you choose football?

I love the grind and competition you have to put up every day to become the best in the game. Football is more than just a game, it’s personal to me, and I want to be recognized as the player that’s going to give 1000% every snap.

What’s your favorite football memory?

When we play against McDowell and embarrass them every game, camp at Norte Dame with the entire team, the locker room moments, and being able to build chemistry and get to know more about your team is what I like about it.

What activities do you enjoy outside of playing football?

I like to workout, spend time with my family and friends, play video games, and watch naruto.

What non-football accomplishment are you most proud of?

Being an all- year honor student is what I’m more proud of because, without the grades, you can’t make it to the next level!

Who is your favorite athlete, and why?

James Harrison and Tyron Smith, I’m a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and James Harrison was always physical on the field no matter how big his opponent was he came to play. Tyron Smith is a very well developed Offensive Tackle who has an insane physic.

What has been the most difficult part of training during the pandemic, and how did you overcome it?

Not having the sources to free weights as I used too but, that’s not an excuse to not get any work in. It’s a nonstop grind for me.

Do you prefer offense or defense?

Offense

Who is your biggest role model?

My biggest role model is my Dad and my trainer Steve Spearman. My Dad because he’s always been there for me through the ups and downs. He helps me stay on my path and make sure I don’t fall off because of what others want to do in their life. I appreciate all the lectures and strictness he had that led me to be positive and role models to others. I say my trainer Steve Spearman because when everyone doubted that I would make it to this type of level in my high school career, he believed in me and worked with me since 9th grade. He’s also another father figure and only wants the best out of people!

What are your parents most likely to yell from the stands?

I sometimes can’t hear what my parents say because I’m so focused on the game and wanting to make a big play to help the team score in any way possible! But usually, my parents will say “put em on their back Bassham” or let me know when they see some flaws in my play and want to help me know I have to fix up my craft.

What are your team and personal goals for the season?

My team goals are to be united as one and be able to get better every day together. Also, to make a comeback and go win the state title! My personal goals are to improve and be better than what I was last year and also to be first-team all-state.

If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would you choose?

Martin Luther King Jr., Larry Allen, and Kobe Bryant

What hobby do you have that might surprise people?

Besides watching anime, I don’t really have any other hobbies that people don’t know about.

What’s your favorite sport, other than football, to play or watch?

I love Watching Boxing or watching prep wrestling team.

What is one thing you hope other players can learn from you?

Keep a chip on your shoulder, and never settle for less, brush off whatever anyone says negative about you, and show that you belong on top!

Cathedral Prep moves up to 5A this season. Your thoughts?

We are still going to be expected to play our best rambler football, we have a lot of young guys working their butts off and wanting to get into the action, and I’m excited for them. Being moved up to 5A shows how dominant we have been for the past couple of years, and it’s only right to show why we belong in 5A for sure.

What is your favorite T.V. show?

Naruto or Dragon ball z but mainly Naruto

What is your favorite movie?

Remember the Titans

What is your favorite subject in school?

Has to be math with the G.O.A.T. Mr. Achille

What music do you listen to?

Rap music and R&B
