B. Hollywood’s Mid-Week 2/11 Report.

Week six of the District XI football season came to a conclusion on Monday night after Saturday thunderstorms postponed the Juniata at Pine Grove contest. The game was won by Pine Grove 28-12. Also, Saturday the Easton at Allentown Central Catholic was halted at halftime with Easton up 14-6. The game was moved to BASD Stadium in Bethlehem on Sunday afternoon, as J. Birney Crum Stadium had a band competition. In the end Easton dominated in a 44-14 win. The Rovers improved to 6-0 while the Vikings dropped to 3-3.

Nazareth (5-1) dropped their first game of the season in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference at Orefield, to the Parkland Trojans (4-2) 21-17. Trojan quarterback Ty Tremba connected with Nick Johnston for a nine yard touchdown pass with just 44 seconds left in the game to secure the win. Elsewhere, in the EPC key contests Emmaus downed Liberty 31-28 behind the running of back Brandon Camire gaining 185 yards on 26 carries and 2 scores, including a 91 yard dash. Camire only needs just six yards to break the 1,000 yard barrier. Bethlehem Catholic took down win-less Whitehall 42-17.

In The EPC North, Northampton (5-1) had one of the biggest wins in recent school history with a dominating 51-20 win over previously unbeaten East Stroudsburg South. The Konkrete Kids put themselves in a great position for a post-season birth.

The key games coming up in week 7 will see Bethlehem Catholic (4-2) at 5-1 East Stroudsburg South. Easton will host 5-1 Bethlehem Freedom at historic Cottingham Stadium. Northampton will travel to Stroudsburg (4-2)

Easton’s Nahjee Adams is the leading rusher with 1,169 yards on 130 carries and 15 TD’s, followed by Camire and Bethelehem Catholic’s Tavion Banks is third with 784 yards on 113 carries and 14 scores.

Jared Jenkins of Freedom is leading the way from the quarterback position, throwing for 1,059 yards on 63 completions 15 TD’s and 3 picks. Anthony Harris of Nazareth is second with 978 yards on 78-121 passing 9 TD’s and 3 INT. Sophomore Cole Transue of Easton is next with 921 yards 11 TD’s an 3 picks.

Whitehall’s Allen Negrete is the leading receiver with 35 receptions 463 yards and 6 scores. Nathan Stefanik of Nazareth is second 505 yards on 34 catches and 5 TD’s. Easton’s Chase Holmes is third 24 receptions 448 yards and 4 scores.

In the Colonial League, Southern Lehigh improved to 6-0 with a 35-22 win over rival Northern Lehigh. Northwestern Lehigh (5-1) overwhelmed Palmerton 42-7. With those wins, that will setup the showdown this Friday night between the Tigers and the Spartans in Center Valley. It will be homecoming for Southern Lehigh. Notre Dame Green Pond (4-2) defeated Palisades 42-24. Bangor (2-4) dropped a 28-21 decision to Saucon Valley (5-1). In other games: (3-3) Northern Lehigh will be at 4-2 Salisbury Twp, Palisades at Bangor, Palmerton (1-5) host 0-6 Catasauqua, Pen Argyl (2-4) at Notre Dame and Saucon Valley will travel to Wilson, Saturday afternoon.

Exciting action surrounded the Schuylkill League this past week, with Tamaqua and Jim Thorpe dropping from the ranks of the unbeaten. Pottsville (5-1) doubled up Tamaqua (5-1) 34-17. North Schuylkill outscored the Olympians 41-20. The Crimson Tide were led by QB Damon Yost, who threw for 242 yards on 17 of 24 attempts. For North Schuylkill, running back Zack Chowansky was a nightmare for Jim Thorpe, who rushed for 224 yards and 3 scores including a 42 and a 85 yard jaunt.

This week Blue Mountain (4-2) will be at Jim Thorpe. Tamaqua will face North Schuylkill in Ashland.

In the Tri-Valley League Pine Grove (5-1) will be at Williams Valley in key matchup.

Heading up to District 2, The feature match-up was Berwick at Valley View, both teams came into the contest at 5-0. Valley trailing by 14 28-14 with about 8 minutes left in the third quarter rallied to defeat the Bulldogs 35-28. Cougar quarterback Janaasah Boone threw for 181 yards and 5 scores
in the win. Berwick’s Teagan Wilk became the all-time leader in interceptions with 16, topping former great Lance Evina who had 15 in his career.

As this article is being published, we got word tonight that much anticipated game in week 8 between Southern Columbia and Wyoming Area has been canceled. The reasoning is that the Heartland Conference threatened sanctions against Southern Columbia, if game was to be played, not just against football program but to all athletic teams. So teams will go back to play original schedule: Southern vs Shikellamy and Wyoming Area against Holy Redeemer per report by Steve Bennett of the Wilkes-Barre Citizen’s Voice.

Dunmore (4-2) got a last second field goal to knock off previously unbeaten Old Forge 13-12. Dunmore will host Wyoming Area Friday night. Wyoming Area scrambled to edge out Lake-Lehman 35-30 to stay unbeaten. Dallas (6-0) swamped Wilkes-Barre Area 35-7 Saturday afternoon. A new rivalry may be in the making as Wyoming Valley West will meet Wilkes-Barre Friday night. “The Battle of the Bridge” as it will be dubbed as the Susquehanna River separates the two squads. The Spartans are struggling at 1-5, lost to Wallenpaupack 22-20.

The Key contests this week will feature 6-0 Valley View at 6-0 Western Wayne. In The “Battle of the Bell.” West Scranton (1-5) at 4-2 Scranton. 2-4 Hanover Area will travel to Shickshinny to face 3-2 Northwest. 4-2 Lackawanna Trail will be at 4-1 Old Forge. PNC Field, home of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders will host a pair of games in the Railriver Bowl. Friday night it will be Riverside (3-3) at (2-3) Mid Valley and on Saturday afternoon. 0-6 Honesdale will face 4-2 Scranton Prep. Crestwood (4-2) will host 4-2 Tunkhannock.
