Vikings Spoil Homecoming for Indians

The Juniata Indians had practically no answer on Friday night to stop the Williams Valley offense, losing the game 37-12.

Bryson Clark returned to the Indian’s on Friday, but only played defensive snaps. His presence was not enough to stop the Willams Valley offense from plowing through the defense repeatedly at Dietrick Field.

The Vikings started the cloudy night off strong taking their opening drive down the field for a touchdown. Their offense was highlighted by junior Brady Miller, who rushed for over 180 yards on the night, and Levi Engle who threw two touchdown passes on the night.

Miller was next to impossible to stop as he tore down the field for two separate touchdown runs. One that totaled over 60 yards and the other being 42 yards.

Early in the 1^stquarter, senior quarterback Jeremiah Parson went down with what was listed as a foot injury. He did not return for the rest of the game and was seen on crutches along the sidelines.

To fill his place, freshman Jacob Condo stepped under center. With the Viking offense chugging, the freshman had a bit of weight put on his shoulders to lead the varsity team.

When asked what he thought of his backup quarterback’s performance, Coach Klingensmith said, “He has a bright future ahead of him. He hasn’t had much time to learn everything. He only has one JV game under his belt.”

That is how young Condo looked over the course of the game. He looked like a young quarterback, with the potential of becoming a good high school player, who was playing in only his second high school game.

Condo would throw a few interceptions on the night, while also completing a few passes to teammates for first downs, and leading one drive down the field that lead to a touchdown. There was no word on when Parson may return to the team.

Klingensmith said that the Indians gave up a couple of big plays early that ultimately held them from gaining any momentum. He went on to say, “we got five more games. I expect to win those games and I’m sure my players will fight for it.”

The Indians (0-5) are at home again next where they will face off against Pine Grove    (4-1).
