Seven weeks of the 2026 season have come and gone, not a whole lot of movement in the rankings this week, nobody in the top 5 moved at all. There were a couple shifts below them, only one team dropped out this week, that being Montoursville once again after their loss. Only three more weeks until the playoffs start, so let’s talk about where all these teams stand as we head into the final stretch of the regular season.
No changes here at the number one spot, Shamokin took care of Williamsport 48-13, who was ranked #10 in the rankings last week, and Shamokin continues their undefeated streak. The Indians increase their regular season winning streak up to 27 games, and everything seems to be lining up for an undefeated showdown in week 10 in the Coal Bucket game. This week Shamokin is at home facing Hanover Area.
Just like Shamokin, no changes here at number two, Mount Carmel handled Montoursville 35-14, who has since dropped out of the rankings but was an honorable mention last week. The Red Tornadoes have seemingly cemented themselves as one of, if not the top favorite for the district title in 3A, and as mentioned before, it seems like their undefeated season will come down to the Coal Bucket showdown in week 10. Mount Carmel is back at home this week taking on Central Columbia.
After losing their 20 game winning streak to Mount Carmel, the Tigers got themselves back on track, taking down Danville convincingly 39-14 and beginning a new win streak. Southern Columbia still looks like the best team in the state in 2A, and it’s very likely that the Tigers will be hoisting their 16th state title trophy come December. Southern Columbia will be at home this week facing Milton.
Bloomsburg reached a historical milestone last week, as they took care of Hughesville 36-14 marking their 500th win in school history, becoming the 11th District 4 team to reach that mark. The Panthers are hoping to make this season even more historic as they are chasing their first undefeated regular season in school history, and they have a really good chance to do it. This week Bloomsburg is on the road against Lewisburg.
The Braves cruised in the second half of their game last week, crushing Selinsgrove 40-13, winning the “Rally in the Valley” for the second consecutive year. With that win, Shikellamy has surpassed their win total from last season, and they’ve reached the 6 win mark for the first time since 2017. The Braves will be on the road again this week, taking on Loyalsock.
The Red Raiders jump up to number six thanks to Line Mountain’s loss and their dominant 56-7 win over Sayre last week. It is looking almost certain that these two teams will be meeting up in the district title game, however Montgomery will be looking to win their first district title in school history, and they have a really good chance to do that. Montgomery is back at home this week taking on Towanda.
Line Mountain drops one spot to number seven after their 36-27 home loss to Steelton-Highspire last week. They won’t drop any further than that because they lost to who is now the number 4 ranked team in the entire state in 1A, and Line Mountain stays ranked at #5 in the state rankings, and the Eagles will likely win out as well. This week the Eagles will stay at home as they face Halifax.
Another dominant victory for Athens, they cruised past North Penn-Mansfield 58-0 for their fifth straight win. The Wildcats had arguably their most impressive performance of the season on both sides of the ball, and this team is showing no signs of slowing down as the playoffs get closer. Athens will try to increase their win streak up to six this week, as they go on the road to face Canton.
The Trojans had their best offensive performance of the year, reaching the 60 point mark for the first time since 2025, beating Cowanesque Valley 60-27. Troy is now on a six game winning streak, and they are highly likely to continue that into the playoffs where they will meet the rest of the district’s 2A powers like Southern Columbia and Bloomsburg. For now, Troy looks to increase the streak to seven games this week on the road against Sayre.
The defending district champs have finally made their way back into the top 10, as Mifflinburg crushed Central Mountain last week 57-14 for their fourth straight win. The Wildcats are on a roll, and after a slow start to the season, Mifflinburg looks like they are ready to potentially defend their District 4 crown come playoff time. Mifflinburg will stay on the road again this week, as they take on Midd-West.
It was an unfortunate loss for Williamsport, as their hot streak came to an end against #1 ranked Shamokin, who ran away with the game in the second half winning 48-13. There is good news for the Millionaires though, as this week star quarterback Tevin Williams is set to return to action for the first time since September 11th. Williamsport is back on the road this week facing Berwick.
How about that for a statement win, South Williamsport crushed Wyalusing last week 71-0, scoring all 71 points in the first half. The Mountaineers grab their third straight win, and they have a really good chance and winning out the rest of the way, with a very favorable schedule in the last three weeks of the year. The first of those games comes on the road against Cowanesque Valley.
The Bulldogs sneak back into the rankings after their 28-14 win over DuBois, ending their three game skid. Jersey Shore has struggled as of late, and they’ve already dropped both contests against the teams sitting ahead of them in the 4A standings, so this season could mark the first time that Jersey Shore misses the district title game since 2017. It doesn’t get any easier this week for the Bulldogs as they will go on the road to face Hollidaysburg.
