Athens 44, Wyalusing 0

Athens starts off their season with a 44-0 statement victory over Wyalusing. Quarterback Connor Davidson went 9/10 for 97 yards and 4 touchdowns in the victory, as well as running for 98 yards on 5 carries. Brendan Cooke rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on just 5 carries. The defense played phenomenal, holding Wyalusing to negative 4 total yards on the night.

Towanda 55, Sayre 2

Towanda crushes Sayre to begin the year, winning 55-2 on the road. The Black Knights rushed for nearly 400 yards in the game, which was their biggest key on offense. Jazik Brown rushed for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 carries, while Gage Evans rushed for 118 yards and 3 touchdowns on 10 carries. Sayre’s only points in the game came from a safety in the second quarter.

Canton 22, Cowanesque Valley 9

Canton trailed 9-0 heading into the third quarter of this game, but both their defense and offense stepped up in the final frame. Canton scored 22 points in the fourth quarter and kept the Indians off the scoreboard entirely, winning 22-9. Sophomore quarterback Owen Moore threw 2 touchdowns in the win for Canton. Senior running back Bailey Gardener caught a touchdown and ran for a touchdown as well. Dave Hess scored Cowanesque Valley’s lone touchdown in the loss.

Montoursville 26, Troy 19

The Warriors got a big statement win to start the season, taking down Troy on the road 26-19. Montoursville was powered by junior quarterback Eli Eck who racked up 183 yards through the air and 129 yards on the ground, along with 3 rushing touchdowns to go with it. Troy struggled offensively after having to replace most of their offensive skill players this offseason. Junior quarterback Spencer Martin only threw for 46 yards on the game while also throwing 3 interceptions. The Trojans only had 175 yards of total offense on the game compared to Montoursville’s 363 yards.

South Williamsport 48, North Penn-Mansfield 0

The Mountaineers made a statement on the road, crushing North Penn-Mansfield 48-0. South Williamsport’s defense played phenomenal keeping the Panthers off the scoreboard entirely and holding them to negative 54 total yards. South Williamsport rushed for 289 yards in this game, including senior running back Cade Lusk rushed for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns, and junior running back Eli White who rushed for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Montgomery 24, Hughesville 0

Running the football was the name of the game in Montgomery’s first game of the season. Montgomery racked up 321 total rushing yards in their 24-0 shutout victory over Hughesville. Trace Furman ran for 106 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, Josh Knoebel ran for 88 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, and Briar Persing ran for 85 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

Warrior Run 14, Muncy 7

Warrior Run and Muncy were both scoreless at halftime, but Warrior Run found the edge in the second half. The Defenders offense ran mostly though Denyn Beachel, who racked up 144 yards and both of Warrior Run’s touchdowns on a whopping 31 carries. Junior quarterback Logan Stevenson went 16/26 for 166 yards in his first start, however he did throw 3 interceptions. Liam Moore led the team in receiving, hauling in 6 passes for 83 yards. Muncy was alternating between sophomore Noah Weikle and freshman Noah Walters at quarterback, after graduating Andrew Walters last year. Weikle went 8/19 for 127 yards and 2 interceptions, while Walters went 5/11 for 95 yards and a touchdown. Their leading receiver was senior Nathan Rogers, who racked up 141 yards and Muncy’s lone touchdown on 7 receptions. Warrior Run held Muncy to just 52 rushing yards in the 14-7 victory.

Williamsport 41, Wyoming Valley West 21

The Millionaires earned a 41-21 victory over Wyoming Valley West in the opening game of the season. Williamsport’s biggest key on offense was quarterback Tevin Williams. Williams racked up 197 yards and a touchdown through the air, along with 213 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. Williams also got an interception on defense and returned an onside kick for a touchdown. Trey Damschroder caught Williams’ lone touchdown pass as well as running for a touchdown of his own.

Shikellamy 26, Mifflinburg 21

Shikellamy trailed 21-12 late in this game, but the Braves found a spark late in the game, taking a 26-21 lead and intercepting the final pass of the game in the end zone. Bobby Felmy had to take over at quarterback for Shikellamy after graduating Brady Rebuck last year, and he threw for 189 yards and 4 touchdowns, along with 99 yards on the ground, leading the team. Felmy threw 2 touchdowns to Maddox Hoover, 1 touchdown to Thomas Pollock, and 1 touchdown to Xavier Baker-Allen which ended up being the game winner. Mifflinburg also had to replace their quarterback this season, after Chad Martin’s graduation. Sophomore Brennan Snyder accounted for all 3 of the Wildcat’s touchdowns, throwing for 2 and rushing for 1, his 2 passing touchdowns going to Grady Brubaker. Snyder accounted for 155 total yards in his first start, 122 through the air, and 33 on the ground.

Selinsgrove 23, Juniata 0

Selinsgrove’s defense showed up big time in their 23-0 victory over Juniata. The Seals held Juniata to just 84 yards of total offense and got 3 takeaways, 1 interception and 2 fumbles. Senior quarterback Rocco Amato threw for 46 yards and a touchdown, their lone passing touchdown going to Nash Fordyce who also caught 3 passes for 32 yards. Selinsgrove as a team rushed for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns, Cael Badman scoring one and Issac Thomas scoring the other.

Jersey Shore 49, North Schuylkill 34

The Bulldogs found themselves trailing 20-7 late in the first half of this game, until quarterback Nolen Pauling ran past the Spartan defense for a 32 yard touchdown, making the score 20-14. Jersey Shore took that momentum into the second half, outscoring North Schuylkill 35-14 in final two quarters, winning 49-34. Nolen Pauling was the engine behind Jersey Shore’s offense in this game, going 13/21 for 266 yards and 4 touchdowns through the air while also adding 124 yards and another 2 touchdowns on the ground. Pauling’s leading receiver was junior Carter Rhinehart, who hauled in 7 passes for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns. Khani McCray also caught a 37 yard touchdown on his only reception of the night. Senior running back Zeke Sechrist also ran for 64 yards and a touchdown on 8 carries.

Shamokin 41, Pottsville 7

For the third straight year, Shamokin beats Pottsville to open the season, this one being their most dominant of the three. The Indians took a 21-0 lead into halftime and ran away with the game in the third quarter with 20 more points. Shamokin rushed for 243 yards on the game, Logan Steele rushing for 92 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Noah Ringes rushing for 88 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Steele also threw for 67 yards and a touchdown, the lone score going to freshman receiver Sheldon Sassani. Shamokin held Pottsville to just 161 yards of total offense on the game, while also recording an interception and and a fumble recovery.

Bloomsburg 29, Milton 13

The battle between the Panthers and Black Panthers in the opening week of the year saw Bloomsburg walk away with 29-13 victory over Milton. After losing All-State quarterback Wyatt Brosious to graduation, Shane Frey stepped in to fill the role, and showed he could bring similar play to what Brosious had brought them. Frey went 16/21 for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Jharee Moore-Stewart hauled in 7 passes for 78 yards and both of Frey’s passing touchdowns. Julius Serrano was the other team leader in rushing yards, racking up 64 with a rushing touchdown of his own on 8 carries. Milton scored once through the air and once on the ground. Sophomore quarterback Kamryn Wilson completed went 5/14 for 74 yards along with a touchdown and an interception. Wilson’s lone touchdown pass was caught by Jhemzuel Feliciano, while Milton’s one rushing touchdown came from Brady O’Rourke. Bloomsburg’s defense held Milton to just 142 yards of total offense on the game.

Danville 42, Lewisburg 22

Early on in this game Danville was trailing 14-7, however they found their stride and outscored Lewisburg 28-8 the rest of the way. Danville’s rushing attack was their biggest factor in this game, rushing for a total of 387 yards as a team, as well as all 6 of their touchdowns. Junior running back Ben Nye led the team with 99 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 carries, while senior running back Jack Rarig rushed for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns on 13 carries. Senior wide receiver Kayvion Seabrook rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on 6 carries, and freshman Maxx Kitka scored a touchdown while rushing for 19 yards on just 4 carries.

Loyalsock 47, Central Columbia 14

The Lancers showed lots of flashes in their 47-14 victory over Central Columbia. Freshman quarterback Dyson Dupont went 7/11 for 110 yards and a touchdown in his first career start while also adding 62 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Senior wide receiver Ivan Baker rushed for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns of his own on 10 carries. Senior running back Cayden Sones also had a good game with 93 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Carter Brown led the Lancers receiving game, hauling in 3 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown. The Blue Jays found some promise in the ground game, rushing for almost 200 total yards as a team in the loss. Sophomore Dominic Keller scored both of Central Columbia’s touchdowns while also adding 84 yards on 19 carries. Freshman Blake Edgar led the team in rushing yards with 111 on 14 carries.

Mount Carmel 48, Schuylkill Haven 41

What a shootout this game was, both teams combined for 89 total points and 1,059 total yards. Mount Carmel’s offense was nothing but the rushing attack, as their passing stat line at the end of the game was 0/3 for 0 yards. All 503 yards of Mount Carmel’s offense came from the running game, Jaylen Delaney had 276 yards and 4 touchdowns, Cooper Karycki had 134 yards and a touchdown, Jason Klokis had 71 yards and a touchdown, and Michael Higgins had 32 yards and a touchdown. For Schuylkill Haven, 374 of their total yards came on the ground, with 312 of them coming from Colton Reber. While Reber had 3 touchdowns on the ground, Brayden Diehl had 3 touchdowns through the air, 2 of them going to freshman receiver Noah Runkle, and the 3rd one going to junior receiver Chase Yoder. This game was another big time dose of all offense and no defense, with Mount Carmel getting the 48-41 victory.

Southern Columbia 34, Wyomissing 27

The Tigers emerged victorious over the Spartans for the first time since they began facing them. Wyomissing did not touch the football in the final 7 minutes of this game after cutting Southern Columbia’s lead down to 34-27. The Tigers passing game performed well in the first half but the rushing attack proved to be key in the second half, as Southern Columbia racked up 277 total rushing yards as a team. Joey Williams rushed for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries, Grady Garcia rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, and Ayden Hockenbroch rushed for 51 yards on 11 carries. Hockenbroch also went 8/11 for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air in the victory. Wyomissing’s quarterback Brady Eisenhower went 8/13 for 190 yards and 3 touchdowns in the game, while also throwing an interception. Andrew DiFabrizio led the Spartans in receiving hauling in 4 passes for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Ethan Betances hauled in 2 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Hamburg 42, Midd-West 7

Midd-West opened up their 2026 campaign with an ugly 42-7 home loss to Hamburg. The Hawks crushed the Mustangs’ defense through the air, with quarterback Isaac McFadden going 12/17 for 266 yards and 4 touchdowns. Midd-West’s lone touchdown came on a 66 yard connection between quarterback Witten Carter and Aiden Rose. Carter went 13/24 for 201 yards and threw 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Midd-West also struggled to run the football, only rushing for 14 total yards as a team.

Cameron County 32, Bucktail 22

The Bucks struggled against Cameron County, falling 32-22, however much improved from last season’s 54-6 loss to the same team. Bucktail wasn’t able to contain Cameron County’s rushing attack, with senior running back Kamden Fragale torching the defense with 342 yards and 4 touchdowns on 21 carries.

Line Mountain 14, Tri-Valley 7

Line Mountain took down Tri-Valley 14-7 in a game where defense was key. The Eagles alternated between Preston Derk and Kaden Dunkelberger at quarterback, both of whom combined for just 88 passing yards on the night. Most of Line Mountain’s offense came in the rushing attack as the team ran for 126 yards, however no player rushed for more than 50 yards. Derk was the leading rusher racking up 49 yards on 12 carries, while Luke Malfara racked up 32 yards on his 12 carries and a touchdown. Their only passing touchdown was a connection between Derk and Henry Malfara which ended up being the game winner. The defense only allowed 182 total yards of offense to Tri-Valley, as well as picking off quarterback Trey Porter twice.

Shenandoah Valley 56, Columbia Montour Vo-Tech 6

Cody Zimmerman scored Columbia Montour Vo-Tech’s lone touchdown in a brutal 56-6 loss to Shenandoah Valley. That 56-6 win was the Blue Devils’ first victory since 2023, after going 0-10 each of the past 2 seasons.

Lakeland 27, Wellsboro 6

The Hornets came up short against Lakeland, falling 27-6 on the road. Wellsboro only trailed 13-6 heading into the fourth quarter of this game until the Chiefs scored 2 late touchdowns to pull away. Quarterback Griffin Morral scored Wellsboro’s only touchdown, rushing for 25 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries while also going 8/19 for 64 yards through the air. Lakeland quarterback Jackson Pochas went 16/18 for 110 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

Northwest Area 36, Holy Redeemer 31

The Rangers led 30-12 in the third quarter, and after allowing Holy Redeemer to climb back in the game and take a 31-30 lead, they got the game winning touchdown and emerged victorious 36-31. Noah Arnett scored the game winning touchdown for Northwest Area, running it in from 19 yards out with just 42 seconds left. The Rangers rushed for 308 total yards as a team, including Robby Voyton who rushed for 110 yards, Cole Cavuto who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, Loegan Diltz who rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown, and Ben Bonham who rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown.
