Northwest Area 76, Columbia Montour Vo-Tech 0

The Rangers absolutely dominated in this game, crushing the Rams at home 76-0. This game was a bit of a whacky scenario, played on a Tuesday due to last second cancellations by both teams’ opponents, and technically the first of two games that the Rams played in week 4 due to the way their schedule worked. Nevertheless, Northwest Area came out on top and secured their first 4-0 start since 2022. Defensively Northwest Area held the Rams to just 39 total yards, picked off Cody Zimmerman 3 times, and racked up 5 sacks. Offensively, the Rangers had their way in every aspect. Cole Cavuto went 4/5 for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air, as well as adding a touchdown on the ground. The rushing attack as a whole totaled 286 yards and 8 touchdowns in the game, with five different players running for a touchdown. Caleb Ide led the team in yards with 119 on just 4 carries, scoring 2 touchdowns as well, while Loegan Ditz led the team in rushing touchdowns with 3, along with 89 yards on 4 carries. Noah Ammett and Robby Voyton also scored a touchdown each. Ben Bonham, Boone May, and Wyatt Olowski all caught a touchdown pass in the win.

Athens 17, South Williamsport 7

Athens’ defense showed out against South Williamsport, powering the Wildcats to a 17-7 road victory over South Williamsport. The Wildcats came up big on the defensive side in this ball game, holding the Mountaineers to just 7 points in the game. Athens did an excellent job in the big moments of the game, including stopping South Williamsport at the goal line on the final play of the half, as well as forcing a fumble on the doorstep of the end zone late in the fourth quarter. Athens picked off Garrett Lorson twice, as well as recovering a fumble on the game’s opening drive. South Williamsport also only scored once in their 5 trips to the red zone, scoring only on a Cade Lusk run in the third quarter. Connor Davidson went 10/23 for 114 yards, along with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, with Gage Marmor hauling in both of Davidson’s touchdown passes. Davidson also added 109 yards on the ground on 25 carries, which led the team.

Muncy 32, Towanda 9

The Indians only led Towanda by 2 points heading into halftime, but Muncy caught fire in the second half. A 21 point second half propelled the Indians to a 32-9 home victory over Towanda. Muncy’s defense allowed Towanda to score a touchdown late in the first half to pull within 2, but in the second half they completely shut down the Black Knights’ offense. The Indians relied on their rushing attack in this game, scoring 3 total touchdowns on the ground, along with 147 yards to go with it. Noah Weikle, Layken Harris, and Noah Walters all scored touchdowns on the ground, with Walters leading the team in rushing yards with 66. Walters also went 5/12 for 68 yards and a touchdown and an interception in the game. Their two quarterbacks Walters and Weikle combined for 154 passing yards and 91 rushing yards. Weikle’s lone touchdown pass was to Nathan Rogers, who in total hauled in 8 passes for 72 yards and a score. Towanda’s only touchdown in the game came from Gage Evans who ran for just 14 yards in the game. The rushing attack as a whole struggled, being held to just 117 yards in the game. Muncy’s defense also came away with 3 interceptions, with Noah Walters, Finn Thomas, and Cullen Reed all coming away with one.

Cowanesque Valley 29, Wyalusing 0

Cowanesque Valley secured their first win of the season against Wyalusing, shutting down the Rams in a 29-0 home victory. The Indians took advantage of a struggling Wyalusing team, who has now been shut out in 4 straight games to begin the year. Cowanesque Valley’s rushing attack was their calling card on offense, racking up 241 of their 306 total yards in the game. Senior Dave Hess led the way in the run game, rushing for a career high 169 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 carries in the game. Gavin Churchill went 4/12 for just 65 yards through the air, however he did add a touchdown run on the ground. Junior offensive lineman Stevie Olson also ran for a touchdown in this game on an 18 yard run, just the second touchdown run of his career. Cowanesque Valley’s defense also racked up 4 sacks in the win, along with 13 tackles for loss, Olson leading the team with 4 of them.

Troy 14, Montgomery 7

Defense was huge in this game for Troy, as the Trojans held off Montgomery at home in a hard fought 14-7 win. Both teams’ defenses played phenomenal, holding each other scoreless until the fourth quarter. Troy scored twice in the twice in the fourth quarter which ultimately was the deciding factor in this defensive showdown. Jayden Kutt got the scoring going in the fourth quarter with a touchdown run, he totaled 71 yards on 17 carries in the game along with the score. Josiah Peseski scored Troy’s other touchdown on a pass from Spencer Martin, who went 8/13 for 121 yards through the air in the game. For Montgomery, their offense couldn’t find the end zone until very late in the fourth quarter, scoring on a touchdown run from Josh Knoebel inside of 2 minutes left. By that point for Montgomery, it was just too little too late. Knoebel provided the Red Raiders with another strong performance on the ground, racking up 94 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Sophomore Gage Furman started his first game at quarterback for Montgomery, and he went 8/12 for 115 yards in his first start, however he did also throw an interception. Josiah Pesesky was the one who came up with the interception, this now being his third consecutive game racking up an interception.

Sayre 23, North Penn-Mansfield 21

The Redskins finally brought to an end a 17 game losing streak dating back to 2024, escaping North Penn-Mansfield with a 23-21 road victory. It wasn’t all pretty for the Redskins though, as they saw a 17-0 first half lead evaporate in the second half, before scoring a late touchdown to take the lead one last time. Hudson Malanowski ran in a touchdown in the first quarter, which was the Redskins first touchdown of the season. They added another touchdown in the second quarter, as well as a field goal as time expired in the first half. Bridger Lehman and Jeremiah Lawrence both scored touchdowns for the Panthers in the third quarter to cut Sayre’s lead down to 17-14, before quarterback Peyton Greene connected with Lehman for a touchdown to give North Penn-Mansfield a 21-17 lead early in the fourth quarter. Sayre answered late with a second touchdown run from Malanowski with just over 2 minutes left in the game that capped off Guy Kapichok’s first win as Sayre’s head coach.

Shikellamy 48, Williamsport 44

This game was the highlight of the week without a doubt, in what might have been the game of the year, Shikellamy came out on top on the road against Williamsport 48-44. The Braves led by 11 points with just over 3 minutes left after a Bobby Felmy pass to Maddox Hoover put them up 41-30. A 30 yard touchdown pass followed by a fumble recovery touchdown by Williamsport put the Millionaires back ahead 44-41. Shikellamy was able to drive right back down the field and take a 48-44 lead that held up for the final minute and a half as the final hail mary attempt from Williamsport fell to the ground. The Millionaires had to play this game without starting quarterback Tevin Williams, so in his place they had senior running back Zion Hughes taking the snaps. Hughes went 12/30 for 200 yards and a touchdown through the air, while also adding 78 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Bobby Felmy took most of the snaps at quarterback for Shikellamy, going 11/18 for 209 yards and both a touchdown and an interception. Brady Kurtz also took some snaps at quarterback, going 2/2 for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game. Felmy on top of his passing numbers, added 64 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries on the ground. Thomas Pollock showed off his versatility in the game, not only rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown, but also catching 8 passes for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns, both of which came from Kurtz. Trey Damschroder was Hughes’ top target for Williamsport, hauling in 4 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown, as well as tallying a touchdown on the ground.

Selinsgrove 44, Central Mountain 0

The Seals bounced back in a big way after a rough loss to Jersey Shore last week, taking down Central Mountain 44-0 at home. Selinsgrove dominated this game from start to finish on both sides of the ball. Rocco Amato had a nice performance through the air, throwing for 137 yards and 3 touchdowns after throwing for 59 yards and 2 interceptions last week. Amato also added a touchdown on the ground, this being the third week in a row that he has ran for a score. Selinsgrove’s rushing attack was powered by sophomore Issac Thomas, who ran for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns on 15 carries. Jonathan Neidig led the receiving game with 86 yards and 2 touchdowns on 3 receptions, while Nash Fordyce also hauled in a touchdown pass from Amato. Selinsgrove’s defense held Central Mountain to just 54 total yards in the game, as well as racking up 5 sacks in the game. The 44 point performance was Selinsgrove’s first time scoring 40+ points in a game since their 2024 matchup with Central Mountain where they scored 41.

Shamokin 35, Jersey Shore 14

In one of the most highly anticipated games in the state, Shamokin showed their dominance against Jersey Shore, taking down the Bulldogs 35-14 at home. While the score makes it look like Shamokin ran away with the game, Jersey Shore was still very much in it for most of the game, but the Bulldogs made way too many critical errors to be able to top the Indians. Jersey Shore had 5 different drives inside of Shamokin’s 20 yard line, including 3 of them that were inside the 5 yard line, but they did not score any points off of them. While Jersey Shore’s defense held Shamokin’s Logan Steele in check through the air, they could not contain him on the ground. Steele ran for a career high 201 yards on 17 carries, adding 3 rushing touchdowns as well, while senior running back Noah Ringes ran for 101 yards on 18 carries. Steele only went 4/14 for 74 yards in the game throwing the ball, however he did throw for a touchdown, as well as catching a touchdown pass from Barrett Walsh. Nolen Pauling, although performing well, was very inefficient throwing the ball, going just 16/38 for 281 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Connor Winters was Pauling’s main target, catching 5 passes for 165 yards and both of Pauling’s touchdown passes. Pauling, on top of his 2 interceptions, also fumbled 3 times in the game, losing 1 of them late in the fourth quarter near the goal line.

Danville 24, Milton 0

The Ironmen had another strong defensive performance in a 24-0 shutout win on the road against Milton. Danville’s defense on top of getting a shutout bid, held the Black Panthers’ offense to just 84 total yards in the win. Offensively, the Ironmen had some struggles to overcome, as they were without starting quarterback Macon Patrick. Junior Myles Koser and sophomore Jagger Simpson both took snaps at the quarterback position, the two combined for just 46 passing yards in the game. Simpson did have a touchdown pass in the game, connecting with Braxtyn Girardi on a 28 yard touchdown pass. Simpson also scored a touchdown on the ground while also adding 57 yards on 11 carries. Ben Nye lead the team in rushing yards with 69 on his 15 carries, but Girardi was the one who scored the other rushing touchdown for Danville.

Montoursville 48, Central Columbia 0

Following back to back losses to Jersey Shore and Southern Columbia, Montoursville got a much needed bounce back win, crushing Central Columbia 48-0 at home. The Warriors controlled the game entirely, taking advantage of a very young Blue Jays team that has now lost 17 consecutive games dating back to 2024. Junior quarterback Eli Eck had a very solid performance through the air, going 8/13 for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns, his first 3 touchdown passing game of his career. Montoursville combined for 194 yards on the ground, with Kaden Kleinman and Colton Conklin leading the charge. Kleinman rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on 7 carries, while Conklin rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on 5 carries. Brayden Burkett led the receiving game with 3 catches for 68 yards and a touchdown, while Jay Houseknecht and Colby Ulmer also caught touchdowns as well. Montoursville completely shut down the Blue Jays’ offense, holding them to just 122 total yards, racking up 10 tackles for loss, as well as picking off RJ Kressler twice.

Mount Carmel 55, North Schuylkill 7

The Red Tornadoes cruise the their fourth straight win, crushing North Schuylkill on the road 55-7. Last season, these two teams met to begin the season, and the Spartans demolished Mount Carmel’s defense, winning 62-20, but this year Mount Carmel completely flipped the script. As it has been all season long, Jaylen Delaney was the star of the show, accounting for 5 total touchdowns in the win. The running game once again did its thing, as the team racked up 534 total rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. Delaney led the way for the Red Tornadoes on the ground, rushing for 145 yards and 4 touchdowns on 11 carries in the game, bringing his season total up to 12 rushing touchdowns through 4 games. Cooper Karycki had another great performance on the ground, rushing for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 9 carries. Delaney also connected with Karycki for a 27 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, marking his third straight game with a touchdown pass. Junior wide receiver Jaxon Boblick also ran for a touchdown on a 94 yard carry. Mount Carmel’s offense is now averaging just shy of 50 points a game through the first 4 weeks of the season, and this is also their first 4-0 start since 2022.

Bloomsburg 34, Warrior Run 15

The Panthers got the upper hand over Warrior Run in a battle of undefeated 2A squads, taking down the Defenders 34-15 at home. Bloomsburg took a slim 6 point lead into halftime after Warrior Run scored 15 points in the second quarter. Unfortunately for the Defenders, both their starting quarterback Logan Stevenson and starting running back Denyn Beachel went down with injuries late in the first half, allowing Bloomsburg to pull away in the second half. Before going down, Stevenson threw for 64 yards and both a touchdown and an interception. In his absence, junior quarterback Emilio Torres filled in at quarterback, going just 4/17 for 153 yards in the game. Beachel had racked up 65 yards on 9 carries before going down, and after losing Beachel, Warrior Run’s rushing attack never recovered. For the Panthers, their quarterback Shane Frey had another great performance, as Frey went 12/18 for 248 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air. Jharee Moore-Stewart showed off his versatility in the win, hauling in 4 passes for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also adding 27 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Julius Serrano caught Frey’s other touchdown pass, totaling 5 catches for 85 yards. Bloomsburg tallied their fourth straight win, beginning 4-0 for the second year in a row.

Mifflinburg 36, Hughesville 0

The Wildcats struggled in the second half last week, but this week they played a complete game, earning a 36-0 road victory over Hughesville. Mifflinburg had a fantastic performance defensively, shutting Hughesville’s offense down completely, holding them to just 57 total yards. The Wildcats also racked up 8 sacks and an interception, with Luke Brubaker tallying 3 sacks and Isaiah Kurtz recording the interception. Brennen Snyder had another good game through the air, going 11/24 for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns to 1 interception. Senior running back Landon Moser led the Wildcats’ running game, racking up a season high 168 yards on 15 carries, and a touchdown to go with it. The receiving game was very balanced, Cameron Schneck, Brayden Resseguie, and Luke Brubaker all hauled in touchdown passes from Snyder. Mifflinburg, on top of their 8 sacks on Hughesville quarterback Nicholas Stubbs, also tallied 17 tackles for loss in the win.

Loyalsock 42, Midd-West 18

The Lancers rode a dominant first half performance to a 42-18 road victory over Midd-West. Loyalsock overwhelmed the Mustangs’ defense in the first half, taking a dominant 42-0 lead into the halftime break thanks to an outstanding passing performance. Dyson Dupont delivered an air raid, going 10/14 for 234 yards and a whopping 6 touchdown passes, all of which came in the first half. Loyalsock had 5 different players catch a touchdown pass, with those being Ivan Baker, Zion Cobb, Carter Brown, Jackson Keefer, and Clynton Taylor. Taylor caught the most passes, catching 3 for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns, while everyone else only scored one. Brown led the team in receiving yards with 76 on just 2 catches. Loyalsock’s defense also picked off Witten Carter 3 times, with Zion Cobb recording 2 and Ivan Baker getting one as well. Midd-West was held out of the end zone until the fourth quarter, when they were finally able to score on touchdown runs from seniors Mason Fultz and Noah Kratzer.

Moniteau 31, Bucktail 12

The Bucks trailed by just 8 points going into halftime and cut Moniteau’s lead down to 2 points early in the second half, but a 17 unanswered points helped propel Moniteau to a 31-12 road victory and their first win of the year. Sophomore quarterback Corbin Pentz provided Bucktail most of their offense. Pentz went 13/26 for 117 yards and a touchdown through the air, while also adding 50 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries on the ground. Angelo Tarantella caught Pentz’s lone touchdown pass on a 25 yard reception. Bucktail is still searching for their first win of the season, they are 1-24 in their last 25 games with their one win coming on a forfeit against Renaissance Academy last year.

Line Mountain 14, Upper Dauphin 7

Line Mountain grinds out their fourth straight win to start the year, taking down Upper Dauphin on the road 14-7. The Trojans went up 7-0 in the first quarter, but after that Line Mountain’s defense held firm, not allowing another score for the rest of the game. Kaden Dunkelberger’s 63 yard touchdown pass to Henry Malfara in the third quarter ended up being the game winning score as it put Line Mountain up for good. The touchdown pass was Dunkelberger’s only throw in the game, while their other quarterback Preston Derk went 3/8 for 80 yards in the game. Derk also added a touchdown and 30 more yards on the ground to his total, while Dunkelberger rushed for 60 yards on 13 carries. Senior running back Dale Huhn scored Upper Dauphin’s lone touchdown in the game, he rushed for 60 yards in the game, with the team as whole racking up 165 rushing yards.

Canton 14, Wellsboro 6

After finishing the 2025 season just 2-8, Canton is off to a good start in 2026, racking up their third win of the season thanks to a 14-6 victory at home against Wellsboro. Following a very methodical opening drive for Wellsboro that ended in a touchdown and a 6-0 lead, Canton completely shut down the Horents’ offense for the rest of the game. Wellsboro unfortunately lost starting quarterback Griffin Morral to injury on the opening drive which forced sophomore quarterback Derrick Blasz into the role. Bladz went 6/16 for 51 yards and a touchdown in the game, with the touchdown pass going to Max Mascho on the opening drive. Canton’s quarterback Owen Moore had a very strong performance, going 12/18 for 210 yards and a touchdown. Moore’s top receiver was Rylan Wesneski who hauled in 7 passes for 121 yards, while Moore’s lone touchdown pass went to Bailey Gardener. Canton’s defense, despite giving up 82 yards on Wellsboro’s opening drive, held the Hornets to just 73 total yards in the win.

Renaissance Academy 54, Columbia Montour Vo-Tech 0

Thanks to a very interesting schedule, this was Columbia Montour Vo-Tech’s third game played in an 8 day span, but unfortunately it went no better than their previous games have gone, falling to Renaissance Academy on the road 54-0. The Rams have now dropped 5 straight games to begin the year, and they’ve given up an average of 61.4 points per game while they have only scored 12 points all season. The Knights’ defense did not allow the Rams to complete a pass on offense, as well as holding them to just 51 total yards. Renaissance Academy tallies their fourth straight win to begin the year while Columbia Montour Vo-Tech is 0-5.

Southern Columbia 61, Lewisburg 8

The Tigers continue to roll, as they took care of business in their most dominant win of the season so far, crushing Lewisburg 61-8 on the road. This game was nothing but pure domination start to finish, Southern Columbia led 61-0 late in the fourth quarter before Lewisburg was able to break the shutout bid. Right from the opening kickoff the Tigers were in complete control, including scoring a touchdown just 4 seconds into the game after a miscue from Lewisburg on the opening kickoff. Ayden Hockenbroch had a very efficient performance through the air, going 7/9 for 97 yards and 3 touchdowns. 5 different players ran for a touchdown for Southern Columbia, with Grady Garcia being the focal point of the ground game racking up 98 yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 carries. Joey Williams, Gavin Brown, Gavin Trometter, and Will Wojtowicz all ran for touchdowns in the win. Garcia also caught a touchdown pass from Hockenbroch on a 14 yard reception. Blaise Kissinger was Hockenbroch’s top target, catching 4 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown, with Jace Malakoski also catching a touchdown pass.
