2026 District Nine Review – 1st Week Action

Here are the top performers of the week along with a couple other tidbits:

Quarterbacks:

• Dom Corcetti, Keystone, had 2 TD tosses and added 2 more TDs carrying the rock.  Dom ran for 267 yards (see more on that under tidbits) and passed for 105, accounting for 372 total yards.

• Andrew Kifer, Union/A-C Valley, threw for 3 touchdowns.

• Teeg Hetrick, Punxsy, also passed for 3 scores.

• Brennan Fillhart, Port Allegany, made it a trifecta of QBs having 3 touchdown passes.  Brennan did throw for over 200 yards also.

Running Backs:

•  Kellen Villeux, Port Allegany, scored 5 touchdowns, 3 via the ground game. 

• Kamden Fragale, Cameron County, rushed for 333 yards and scored 4 times.

• Eli Nellis, Keystone, scored 3 touchdowns with 2 via pass receptions.

• Jude Kisko, Smethport, scored 5 touchdowns while rushing for 187 yards.

• Bryce Galan, Karns City, scored 3 TDs (2 running, 1 pass reception).

• Peyton Kennemuth, Redbank Valley, ran for 3 scores.

• Zach Blews, Punxsy, had 3 touchdowns, 2 rushing.

Wide Receivers:

• Elijah Glunt, Clearfield, caught a pair of TD passes.

Defense and Special Teams:

• Jace Zimmerman, Ridgway, returned a kickoff 90 yards for a TD.

• Kellen Villeux, Port Allegany, had a 40-yard pick six.
• Zach Blews, Punxsy, had a 13-yard interception return for a TD.

• Owen Roken, Punxsy, booted 6 extra points.

• Cam Jacoby, Smethport, returned a fumble for a TD.

• Leelyn Welch, Otto-Eldred, scored on a pick six.

• Jude Kisko, Smethport, garnered 9 tackles.

• Keegan Schreckengost, Karns City, had a 24-yard fumble return.

• Port Allegany’s defense allowed only 54 yards for the whole game.

Other Tidbits:

• Dom Corcetti of Keystone set a new school career rushing record with his 267 yards toting the ball.  Congrats Dom!

• Karns City’s rushing offense is by committee.  That is the way their program is based.  Last week, for example, 9 different players carried the ball.  No one had more than 7 rush attempts. Only one player had 7 attempts with the next highest total being 4 rushes.

Game(s) of the Week:

• General McLane pulled out a miracle and beat Central Clarion 21-15 in overtime on Friday night.  Central Clarion led 15-7 with 4:40 remaining.  The Wildcats possessed the ball at the McLane 18 after the Lancers’ fake punt.  As the clock ticked, the McLane defense came up big forcing Clarion to make a decision on 4th down.  Central Clarion elected to go for it and bypass a field goal attempt.  But GM held at the 9-yard line.  The Lancer offense, quiet all night, came to life when needed the most and drove 91 yards in 2 minutes to score with 14 seconds left in the game.  They converted the 2-point try and sent the game into OT where they scored and Central Clarion did not.
• The DuBois Beavers fell to the Royals of Erie High Saturday in a thrilling defensive struggle 14-12.  Erie took a 7-6 lead into the half, then bumped the lead to 14-6 early in the 3rd quarter.  But the DuBois defense played well thereafter and kept the Beavers in the game.  DuBois drew within two when they scored with about 6 minutes remaining.  Their 2-point try was turned away by Erie’s defense and the score stayed at 14-12 Royals.  Late in the game, DuBois stopped Erie on a 4th down gamble and had the ball in Royal territory, but could not solve Erie’s defense this time and turned the ball over on downs.

Upset of the Week:

• Keystone 35 Brockway 20.  The Brockway Rovers were ranked by PFN as the #4 team in 1A.  Other polls had them ranked or Honorable Mention also.  However, Keystone was not impressed and now feel like they should be considered as one of the top teams in 1A.  Brockway started out like they were #4 as they built a 14-0 lead and were on the verge of making it a three score game.  The Rovers had the ball deep in Keystone country when a tipped ball on a pass play turned into an interception and changed the complexion of the game.  The Panthers went on to outscore Brockway 35-6 the rest of the way, led by one of the best all around QBs in the area, Dom Corcetti.
