2026 District Nine Review – 4th Week Action

Here are the top performers of the week along with a couple other tidbits:

Quarterbacks:

• Cole Johnston, Karns City, tossed the agate for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns.
• Dom Corcetti, Keystone, accounted for 248 total yards and 3 touchdowns, 2 running the ball and the other passing.
• Aiden Patton, Brockway, threw for 223 yards and a TD.  He also ran for a TD.
• Brennan Fillhart, Port Allegany, had 237 yards passing..
• Easton Magognotti, Redbank Valley, was responsible for 4 scores, 2 rushing and the other 2 passing the pigskin.  He ran for 144 yards.

Running Backs:

• Parker Bish, Union/AC Valley, scored 5 touchdowns and rushed for 152 yards.  Three TDs were via the ground and two receiving.
• London Duncan, DuBois, rushed for 147 yards.
• Reed Hawkins, Curwensville, ran for 143 yards.
• Markus Gerg, Ridgway, ran for 3 scores.
• Maddox Dickerson, Aiden Tanner, and Lucas Himes, Smethport, all scored 2 touchdowns running the ball.
• Jude Kisko, Smethport, totaled 132 yards on the ground.

Wide Receivers:

• Kellen Veilleux, Port Allegany, caught 10 passes for 145 yards
• Caleb Daugherty, Brockway, had a total of 125 receiving yards.
• Lucas Wallace, Bradford, caught 2 touchdown passes and scored a 3rd TD running the ball.
• Owen Kaufman, Karns City, grabbed 3 passes for touchdowns and accounted for 120 yards receiving.

Defense and Special Teams:

• Punxsutawney’s defense forced 5 turnovers in their game with DuBois.
• But the DuBois Beaver defense held the Punxsy Chucks to 52 total yards for the game and pitched the shutout.
• Aiden Kern, Moniteau, had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
• Jace Zimmerman, Ridgway, ran a kickoff back 82 yards for a TD.
• Caleb Wonderly, Coudersport, took a punt back 86 yards for a score.
• Marshall Hepler, Union/AC Valley, intercepted two passes and returned one of them 33 yards for a touchdown.
• Coleman Freeman, Coudersport, took down 11 ball carriers.
• Jace Zimmerman and Hunter Dellaquilla, Ridgway, had 10 and 9 tackles respectively.

Other Tidbits:

• After four weeks of football, only Karns City remains undefeated.
• Brockway put a halt to Port Allegany’s streak of 25 straight regular season wins and also beat the Gators for the first time since 2017.
• In the latest PFN rankings, Karns City is HM in the always tough Class 2A and Keystone is now HM in Class 1A.

Game(s) of the Week:

• Keystone was involved in another cardiac game this week.  One week after beating Ridgway in overtime, Keystone mounted a 4th quarter comeback to topple Central Clarion 21-14.  The Wildcats held a 7-0 lead, thanks to a 1st quarter TD, until 8 seconds were left in the half.  That is when Keystone scored on a 28-yard pass play on 4th down to tie the game.  Clarion regained the upper hand in the 3rd quarter only to see the new Cardiac Kids from Keystone score twice in the final quarter to win.  The winning touchdown came with less than 3 minutes left in the game.

Upset of the Week:

• Brockway beating Port Allegany has to be considered an upset because of records and how many points Port had scored coming into the game.  But, was it really an upset?  Only time will tell.
• DuBois beating Punxsy may be considered an upset too.  But, then again, was it?  Punxsy lost their quarterback the week before and their top wideout.  Both were key components on the defensive side of the ball too.  Plus, DuBois has been playing better football since their week one loss to Erie High.
