2026 District Nine Review – 5th Week Action

Here are the top performers of the week along with a couple other tidbits:

Quarterbacks:

Carter Hindman, Central Clarion, threw for 4 touchdowns and ran for another TD.
Dom Corcetti, Keystone, accounted for 3 touchdowns, 2 passing the ball and the other running the pigskin.
Weston Cook, Moniteau, threw for 151 yards and 2 TDs.
Andrew Kifer, Union/AC Valley, had 227 yards passing with 2 TD tosses.
TJ Gornati, St.Marys, threw a pair of touchdown passes

Running Backs:

Kamden Fragale, Cameron County, rushed for 170 yards and 2 TDs.
Collin Weir, Brockway, scored 3 touchdowns, 2 running the ball and 1 on special teams (see below).
Kellen Veilleux, Port Allegany, ran for 3 touchdowns.
Markus Gerg, Ridgway, ran for 188 yards and a couple scores.
Ian Leseman, Punxsutawney, traversed for 147 yards on the ground and scored a trio of TDs, with 1 being on defense (see below).
Jude Kisko, Smethport, totalled 195 yards on the ground with 2 touchdowns.
Eli Nellis, Keystone, had 151 yards carrying the ball, scoring twice. He also caught a touchdown pass.
LJ Rankin, Keystone, also scored 3 touchdowns, 2 rushing and the other on a pass reception.

Wide Receivers:

Owen Kaufman, Karns City, had 98 receiving yards and a TD. Also ran for a score.
Matthew Gilmore, St. Marys, had a total of 130 receiving yards and 2 scores.
Aiden Kern, Moniteau, caught 2 touchdown passes and chalked up 163 yards in receptions. (He also kicked the game winning extra point in overtime).
Nick Lelase, Union/AC Valley, garnered 140 yards catching passes.
Wyatt Blendinger, Otto-Eldred, grabbed 6 passes for 87 yards.

Defense and Special Teams:

Other Tidbits:

After five weeks of football, only Karns City remains undefeated, but they were certainly tested by DuBois last week.
Keystone accumulated 506 yards of offense against Kane.

Game(s) of the Week:

Karns City trailed DuBois 7-0, 7-6, and 14-6 in the first half before tying the game at 14 with a couple of minutes before the break. Neither team could muster a score in the 3rd quarter. However, the Gremlins mounted a long drive, eating up valuable time, and scored to go ahead 20-14 in the final stanza. DuBois responded late and had a chance to win but fumbled the ball away on the Karns City 8-yard line.
The game was a battle all night. Moniteau and Coudersport were so even that the game went into overtime giving the fans more bang for their buck. Coudersport had the ball first and scored to go ahead 20-14, but the Falcons missed the extra point. Moniteau’s Warriors answered with a touchdown of their own and won the game when Andrew Kern, as mentioned above, kicked the PAT.
Ridgway beat Union/AC Valley 30-29 in a real barn-burner. The Elkers led 20-6 and 23-14 in the opening half of football. UACV then scored on a long pass with just a few ticks on the clock to go into the intermission only down 23-21. No one scored in the third. But then Union/AC Valley took the lead 29-23 with under 6 minutes to play. Ridgway dug deep and drove downfield to win the game by scoring the touchdown and successfully kicking the PAT.

Upset of the Week:

There were none! But, it should be mentioned that there were two games that were nearly upsets. DuBois almost beating D-9’s only unbeaten team could have been an upset. Also, Union/AC Valley’s 1-point loss to Ridgway could have been a monumental upset.
