- Barrett Dixon and Evan Ramsey, Cameron County, corralled 8 opposition ball carriers each.
- Keystone’s defense only allowed 120 yards for the game and a measly 33 in the first half.
Other Tidbits:
- No one in D-9 is undefeated after six weeks of football. Karns City was the last one standing but Central Clarion gave them their first ‘L.’
- Aiden Patton became a member of the 7,000 yard club. He is 12th all-time in passing yardage for a QB in D-9. He is definitely on track to crack the top ten when all is said and done.
- Easton Magagnotti accounted for 3 offensive touchdowns, each in a different way. He rushed for a TD. He had a TD reception. And he threw a TD pass.
- Keystone became the D-9 Region 3 champions already with their win.
- Keystone’s offense rolled up 522 yards.
- Smethport became the D-9 Region 4 champs with their victory.
Game(s) of the Week:
- Punxsutawney and Port Allegany were involved in a classic contest last week that came down to the final seconds. The Chucks captured a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and it looked bleak for the Gators. But Port Allegany reversed the tables in quarter number two by scoring twice and taking a 16-14 lead into the intermission. Each team scored in the third with Punxsy converting their 2-point try and Port failing on their attempt. That made the score 22-22 entering the final frame. The Chucks scored to grab the 29-22 advantage and looked to put the game away by scoring again, but that TD was nullified due to a penalty. The Gators then embarked on an 89-yard, 6 minute drive, scoring with 26 seconds remaining. Then the Punxsy defense made the stop of the game to prevent Port Allegany from taking the lead and probably the game as the Gator 2-point try fell short of the goal line.
Upset of the Week:
- It had to be Central Clarion beating previously unbeaten Karns City. Not only did they upset them, the Wildcats pummeled the Gremlins 43-14. Dave Eggleton’s Central Clarion eleven played near perfect football and should be commended. Note that Central Clarion has 3 one score losses to teams with a combined record of 15-3. Keep an eye on them the rest of the way.
