Trinity takes down Ringgold 34-12

The Trinity Hillers beat the Ringgold Rams on August 28, 2026. Trinity, who was powered by a 14-2 second quarter, dismantled Ringgold by the score of 34-12. Both teams came into this meeting with a clean slate at the start of a new season. Last time these two teams met, it was a blowout win for the Hillers. The final score was 48-14. The Rams come into this season looking to continue on the improvements they made last season.
To start the game, the Rams kicked off to the Hillers, and Trinity got things started at their own fourty-five yard line. After a quick three and out, Trinity lined up for a punt. The snap went well over the punter’s outstretched hands and he then recovered it at the Trinity sixteen yard line, where the Rams started their first drive of the game. After one first down, Ringgold failed to punch it in the endzone and settled for three.
A big question mark coming into this game for the Hillers comes at the QB position. After graduating 4-year starter Jonah Williamson, Coach Dan Knause put Owen Samogala in for his first start at quarterback. On the Hillers second drive Samogala threw an interception to Braylen Lomax. After a long Ringgold drive that lasted the rest of the first quarter and continued into the second, the Hillers came up with a crucial fourth down stop on the Trinity eight yard line. Unable to capitalize on the drive, the Hillers set up for yet another punt. This time the snap was low and rolled out of the back of the endzone for a Ringgold safety. After a penalty-filled drive by the Rams, the Hillers received a punt at their own eight yard line, where Daniel Glass had a nineteen yard return to set up the Hillers in better position. Looking to turn from their mistakes, the Hillers began their first touchdown drive of the night. Samogala threw to wide receiver Chase Kostelnik who fought his way with stiff arms into the endzone at the 3:57 mark. The Rams followed up with a fumble that was recovered by Trinity’s Edrick Williams. Kostelnik then caught another touchdown with just seconds left in the half, taking a score of 14-5 into the half.
Ringgold started out the second half with a short pass and two botched snaps for a quick three and out. The Hillers followed this with a long drive that ended in a Samogala touchdown run. The Rams had yet again another turnover on their next drive, caught by none other than Kostelnik. The Hillers then drained the rest of the third quarter clock and started off the fourth quarter with a turnover on downs. The Rams began their drive with ninety-one yards ahead of them. They were quickly overcome by the poor field position and punted. The punt was returned to the Ringgold eighteen, but because of a penalty the Hillers began at the thirty-three. This time Trinity punished the Rams quickly with another Samogala touchdown run. Ringgold wasn’t yet done though, as they answered with a Dennis Hawkins touchdown pass to Demetri Lowe. Trinity put all hopes of a comeback away quickly as they scored yet another touchdown four minutes later with fifty seconds left. The extra point was blocked to make the score 34-12. After an incomplete pass and two Nicholas Stasko runs, the clock hit triple zeros and the Hillers claimed the win.
Trinity (1-0) plays at Canon-McMillan next Friday, and Ringgold (0-1) heads to Valley.
