Gateway was able to get out to a big lead in the first half and after a rally attempt by Kiski, Gateway was able to respond and get a 31-10 win over Kiski.
Gateway got the ball to start the game and got the ball into Kiski territory but the drive stalled and they punted the ball away. Kiski’s first possession got close to midfield and then they punted the ball away as well.
Gateway had good field position on their second drive it started at their own 47 yard line. After a third down conversion and then a big pass they were at the Kiski 25 yard line. Eventually Mayson Mitchell found Daysaun Spencer for an 18 yard touchdown pass. That made the score 7-0 Gateway with 57 seconds left in the first quarter.

Kiski started their second drive on their own 20 yard line. After getting one first down the ball was intercepted and Gateway had excellent field position on the Kiski 25 yard line. On the third play of the drive Mayson Mitchell found Khalid Harper for a 2 yard touchdown pass. That made the score 14-o Gateway with 10:58 in the second quarter. Mitchell was a key player in the win for Gateway he was 20 of 28 passing for 243 yards. “He’s gonna be a great one, he’s got a lot of great skills, he works so hard, he’s so committed, he’s such a great leader you know he’s gonna have a hell of a career, and he’s already on his way to a great career, love the kid, love the way he competes” said Coach Holl.

Kiski went three and out on their drive and had to punt it away. Gateway started their next drive at their own 12 yard line it was a long drive and a pass was completed to get them into Kiski territory. After not converting a third down Gateway attempted a field goal which was good it was a 40 yard field goal by Jackson Mikulandrich and that made the score 17-o Gateway with 2:54 in the second quarter. “We did a lot of good things in the first half” said Coach Holl.

Toward the end of the first though a key moment in the game occurred. Gateway was driving and a pass was completed but then fumbled which gave Kiski the ball at their own 27 yard line. They ended up capitalizing on the turnover and got on the board on a 26 yard field goal by Seth Duda which made the score 17-3 Gateway at halftime.

Kiski got the ball to start the second half. The drive started at their own 19 yard line and it sure was a long drive. After getting into Gateway territory. Kiski had a huge run down to the Gateway 8 yard line. A few plays later Landyn Artman scored on a 3 yard touchdown run. That made the score 17-10 Gateway with 4:50 in the third quarter. The drive lasted a little over 7 minutes.

On Gateway’s first drive of the second half they got close to midfield but had to punt it away. Kiski started their next drive on their own 22 yard line but the drive didn’t go very far because of a couple penalties and a sack and they had to punt it away.
Gateway started their next drive at the Kiski 47 yard line. On the first play a pass was completed and was down to the Kiski 5 yard line. After that a plethora of penalties happened but despite that Gateway was able to find the end zone on a fourth down conversion. It was a 2 yard run by Kacy Carter. That made the score 24-10 Gateway with 7:44 in the fourth quarter.

Before the game ended Gateway added one last score when Mayson Mitchell threw his third touchdown of the game this one being 20 yards to Ned Reid and that made the final score 31-10 Gateway.
Next week Gateway travels to Penn Hills and Kiski travels to Highlands.
