  • Aiden Patton, Brockway, threw for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns.
  • Teeg Hetrick, Punxsy, passed for 3 scores for the second time in 2 games.
  • Brennan Fillhart, Port Allegany, tossed 4 touchdown passes and threw for almost 200 yards.
  • Ryan Schenfield, Otto-Eldred, had 3 TD throws and just missed getting 200 yards passing.
  • Ben McCormack, Kane, rushed for 3 scores and had a 4th on special teams.

Running Backs:

  • Kellen Villeux, Port Allegany, scored 3 touchdowns, in 3 different ways, including 1 on defense (see below).  He had 153 yards rushing and over 90 receiving.
  • Ethan Rex, Central Clarion, scored 4 TDs, 3 rushing and 1 receiving.
  • Jace Zimmerman, Ridgway, ran for 3 scores and had 182 yards carrying the rock.

Defense and Special Teams:

  • Ben McCormack, Kane, had a 42-yard INT return for a touchdown.
  • Matthew Gilmore, St.Marys, scored on a 30 yard pick six.
  • Tyson Hooks, Central Clarion, rambled for a score via a 21-yard INT.
  • Coleman Freeman, Coudersport, led his team in tackles and had an interception.
  • Ayden Bachman, Port Allegany, scored 11 tackles for his team.
  • Evan Ramsey, Cameron County, had 11 tackles also on the night.
  • Liam Hawver, Port Allegany, took down 10 opposing ball carriers.
  • Michael Eaton, Otto-Eldred, tackled 10 opposition runners.
  • Punxsy’s defense allowed only 52 yards for the whole game, which came out to be barely over a yard per play.
  • Central Clarion’s ‘D’ yielded 91 yards and sacked the quarterback 6 times.

Other Tidbits:

  • Three head coaches picked up their first career win this past week.  They are Rob Hanzely of DuBois, Scott Easton of Coudersport, and Brian Neal of Otto-Eldred.  Congratulations and wishing you all many more!
  • Mark Heindl, Ridgway’s head coach, collected his 100th career coaching win.  Congrats to you too, Mark.

Game(s) of the Week:

  • Clearfield out-defensed Bedford 7-2 in an old-fashioned slobber-knocker!  The Bison trailed at the half 2-0, but rebounded in the second half to really take control, only mustering a touchdown in the 3rd quarter.  Bedford could not do much offensively but were within a score to win the game.  Clearfield’s defense would not allow that to happen and Clearfield grabbed its first victory of the season.
  • The Otto-Eldred Terrors topped Bucktail 28-20 and never trailed.  The Bucks gave up three scores in a little over a quarter, but made some adjustments defensively and held Otto to only one more score the rest of the way.  It seemed Bucktail was out of the game a couple times, down by two scores, but they battled back only to fall short.

Upset of the Week:

  • There were none.  But, Ridgway beating Redbank Valley by the score of 42-6 was a surprise.  District Nine’s 1A classification appears that the champion will come down from one of five teams.  They are Port Allegany, Ridgway, Brockway, Keystone, and Redbank Valley.  So, it was a big deal when Ridgway took care of Redbank that easily.
