The Prexies Score Early and Often in Victory

Coal Center, PA – The Wash High Prexies (3-0) has been a dominate team in the AA classification for many years. That dominance has not changed with their move to the A classification. In back to back weeks, the Prexies have put up half a hundred points, including this 50-6 throttling over the California Trojans (1-2).

The Trojans elected to receive the kick, however went backwards and were forced to punt.  It didn’t take the Prexies long to get on the board as junior QB Travon Moye found junior WR Ameer Nelson for a 20 yard touchdown completion.  The Trojans ensuing drive ended quickly as junior DB Noah Patton picked off a sophomore QB Brandon Meier pass and returned it 80 yards to the end zone to complete the six part of the pick, that put the Prexies up 14-0 before many were able to find their seats.  Then just a few minutes later, senior RB Jamarie Walker plowed his way in from seven yards out and the Prexies were on cruise control, half way through the first quarter they were up 20-0, leaving the home crowd stunned.

Mid-way through the second quarter, Walker added another punishing touchdown run from eight yards out. Not to be outdone, senior RB Trenton Grooms scored his first of two touchdowns (13 and 5 yards), out running Trojan defenders to the corner of the end zone for 13 yards to make the score 36-0 and initiate the running clock.

California did manage to crack the Prexies defense in the fourth quarter as Meier found the end zone from nine yards out.  The Trojan offense was able to move the ball after the first quarter, but early turnovers put them in a hole they were not able to dig out of. The Trojans have played a very challenging non-conference schedule that they hope will pay dividends for later in the year.

California will look to rebound from consecutive loses as they host the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes (1-2).  Wash High will be looking to open some eyes from their Black Hills Conference does as they introduce themselves to the Brentwood Spartans (1-2).
