PFN ‘s Willie is Cookin’ In Philly Week 4

Wow, time really flies! How can it be Week 4 already? How is it that it’s been 25 years since the September 11 attacks? Like almost every person who was alive during that time, I remember where I was when I heard the news of the attacks. I was in sixth grade at the now long-since-closed Our Lady of Charity. It was so great to see teams across the state honoring the 25th anniversary of such a dark day in America’s History. At PFN, we did an amazing job capturing pregame ceremonies. Now let’s take a look at what’s cooking in Philly this week.
Mr 3000: For the second consecutive year, the Chichester Eagles are off to a 3-0 start, and one of the main reasons for that is the play of RB Maurice Dantzler Jr. In the Eagles’ 48-14 victory over William Tennett, Dantzler set the school record for rushing yards in a game with 300 yards on 16 carries and 4 touchdowns. Dantzler also eclipsed the 3000 yard career mark. The Eagles look to improve to 4-0 when they host Wissahickon tomorrow.
Ground and Pound: In Interboro’s 61-20 victory over Octorara, the Bucs found major success on the ground, rushing for 525 yards as a team while Momdu Rogers accounted for 5 touchdowns. The Bucs put their undefeated record on the line tomorrow when they host Sun Valley.
Kimbrough Takes Flight: In Conwell Egan’s 41-7 rout of Father Judge last week, QB Aubrey Kimbrough set the school record for passing yards in a single game with 317, becoming the first QB in school history to surpass the 300-yard mark in a game and smashing the previous record of 289, which Tyler Barry set in 2019.
No Returns: In Central Bucks East’s 63-19 victory over Bensalem, Kicker Cole Wojnicki set the school record for touchbacks in a single game with 6.
Garnet Valley to Host Salute to Service Night: The Garnet Valley Jaguars rescheduled their annual Salute to Service Night for October 9. The Jaguars will honor those who served before kickoff. The Jaguars originally had their Salute to Service Night scheduled for last week but had to reschedule it when Harriton elected to play a JV schedule only.
Falcons Soaring Again: For the first time since 2018, the Pottsgrove Falcons are off to a 3-0 start. The 2018 Falcons finished the season with a 12-2 record. This year’s version of the Falcons will put their undefeated record on the line tomorrow when they travel to Oxford.
It’s Been Awhile: One of the greatest stories in District 1 thus far this season has been the Pottstown Trojans. Under first-year Head Coach Anthony Smith the Trojans are 3-0 for the first time since 2015, which happens to also be the last time the Trojans finished the season with a winning record. Thus far this season, the Trojans have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 89-9. Last season the Trojans went winless, and in 2024 won only one game. The Trojans’ most wins in the 2020’s came in 2025 when they won 5 games and qualified for the District 1 4A playoffs. The Trojans look to improve to 4-0 tomorrow when they travel down to battle fellow unbeaten Great Valley.

7:00 pm – Spring-Ford (3-0) @ Downingtown East (2-0) The last three meetings between these two teams, including both matchups last season, were decided by a single score, with Downingtown East winning both. Does Spring-Ford get revenge?
5:00 pm – Haverford School (0-2) @ Bonner-Prendie (1-2): How do the Friars respond after being upset on their home field last week? We will find out when they host another Inter-Ac team in the Fords.
7:00 pm – West Catholic (3-0) @ Cardinal O’Hara (3-0): A Catholic League cross-over battle between two unbeatens who will survive and keep their record perfect?
7:00 pm – Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (1-1) @ Roman Catholic (1-2): Last season the Blue Devils gave the eventual 5A State Champion Cahillites a scare. Can the Blue Devils pull off another victory against another Catholic League Power?
8:00 pm – Conwell-Egan (2-1) @ Archbishop Wood (2-1) (Wissahickon HS): The Catholic League Blue Division gives us this dandy of a game to start off league play.
Saturday 11:00 am – Haverford (2-1) @ Academy Park (2-1): The Central League’s Fords Head to Sharon Hill and Del Val’s Academy League. Let’s see what league gets bragging rights in this Delco matchup
7:00 pm – Malvern Prep (1-1) @ St. Joseph’s Prep (1-1) (Franklin Field ): Historic Franklin Field is the site for this battle of Philadelphia Area Heavyweights.
