Tyrone Uses Strong Fourth Quarter to Defeat Bald Eagle

(TYRONE) — A strong fourth quarter and two Mason Emigh touchdowns helped propel the Tyrone Golden Eagles to a 15-6 win over the Bald Eagle Eagles.
The first half was a defensive battle, with the two teams trading possessions and sacks on defense. Offensively, neither team was able to find the end zone, and Tyrone missed a field goal heading into halftime.
Fast-forward to the fourth quarter, when Tyrone found itself at its own 19-yard line on third down. Emigh caught a pass from Ben Walk, broke a tackle, and headed 81 yards to the end zone. This gave Tyrone a 7-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.

The ensuing kickoff was touched by a Bald Eagle player and went out of bounds at the 1-yard line. After a false start penalty, Bald Eagle quarterback Chase Cane was sacked in the end zone by Tyrone’s Dylan Robinson. Tyrone led 9-0.
Tyrone would find the end zone once again following the safety kickoff. The Golden Eagles pulled out a trick play. As Walk heaved the ball downfield, it looked like a Bald Eagle interception. However, the ball was tipped right to Emigh, who took it in for a 54-yard touchdown. A failed two-point conversion put the Golden Eagles up 15-0.
“We didn’t do enough in the first half offensively. We found a way, and that’s what we’re built on — defense, special teams and finding a way on offense,” head coach Jason Jones said.
Bald Eagle responded on its following possession. Cane found Luke Hosband downfield for a 65-yard touchdown. A failed two-point conversion made the score 15-6. The Golden Eagles’ defense held the rest of the game, and Walk kneeled down to secure the victory.
“They made more plays than we did. Kids will learn from this. Sometimes the best way to learn is a loss, and they were one step ahead of us. I think the last three weeks we’ve been physical, but tonight we didn’t show up,” Bald Eagle head coach Jesse Nagle said.
Bald Eagle drops to 3-1 on the year and will face Philipsburg-Osceola next week. Tyrone will head to Bellwood-Antis.
