It’s another Friday night and Fort Cherry took a drive to Burgettstown to take on the Blue Devils.
The Rangers won the toss and elected to receive. The first drive included check downs and short runs but then Eli Salvini found a hole and broke free for a 37-yard touchdown to put the Rangers up 7-0
The Blue Devils’ offense made its way to the field, but the drive didn’t last long due to a few false start penalties. Blue Devils punted and the Ranger offense had another scoring opportunity.
The Rangers move quickly and found themselves nearing closer and closer to a touchdown. Salvini got the hand off and pushed his way into the end zone for another touchdown, making the score 14-0 in favor of Fort Cherry.
The Blue Devil offense’s struggles continued as the penalties added on. A huge sack for a loss of 9 yards brought the down to 3rd and 24. The ball was snapped and Josh Silveira punched the ball out of the quarterback’s hands and immediately jumped on it for a fumble recovery. Quickly after that Ryan Huey rushed the ball in for another touchdown to make the score 21-0 in the first quarter.
The Blue Devils eventually ended their drive with a punt, but the ball touched one of the returners and Burgettstown recovered. They had the ball in the Raiders red zone for the first time tonight. The running back, Brady Rightweiser got the hand off and took it into the end zone to put the Blue Devils on the board, 21-6. The PAT was wide right.
Fort Cherry wanted to get those points back quickly. They had a big run from Salvini to put them in the red zone and Ryan Huey kept the ball himself and took it into the end zone for a touchdown to make the score 28-6.
The Blue Devils offense once again stalled and they had to punt. The Rangers found themselves at the Blue Devils 40, and they handed the ball off to Huey and he chugged his way to the 1-yard line. Huey once again got the hand off and he found himself in the end zone for a Rangers touchdown to make the score 35-6
The Blue Devils offense was about to come up shy then a personal foul penalty gave them the automatic first down. Colton Temple jumped into the backfield and sacked the quarterback for another loss of yardage. With a minute remaining in the first half, the pass was thrown to Michael Carrozza, and he hauled it in for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion was unable to be converted, and the score was left at 35-12. Right before the half, the Rangers hustled down the field, and the pass was caught by Landon Trnavsky for a 24-yard passing touchdown. The half ended with a score of 42-12 in favor of Fort Cherry.
The Blue Devils got the ball to start the second half and ended their drive quickly with a punt. Fort Cherry once again hustled down field and with the help of a personal foul, found themselves in the red zone. Salvini rushed into the end zone for another touchdown and making the score 49-12.
The Blue Devils had the ball, but the pass was tipped and intercepted by Trnavsky. The Rangers were in the red zone, and they kneeled the ball out at the 2-yard line.
The Rangers got the ball back after a punt and Zemorian Evans took off for a 73-yard touchdown to make the score 55-12.
The clock ran out and the Rangers were victorious. The final score was 55-12 in favor of Fort Cherry and ended the Blue Devils winning streak.
The Blue Devils will head to Washington to take on the Prexies next week. The Rangers will take on the Bentworth Bearcats next week.
