Following a narrow win over River Valley, the Homer Center Wildcats were looking to continue their dominance in the ground game and advance to 5-1. They were able to do so easily, as they left Barry T. Madill Athletic Field with a 44-0 win to start off Purchase Line’s homecoming weekend.

The Cats wasted no time getting on the board first, as a productive opening drive led to a seven-yard touchdown run by dual-threat quarterback Carson Arone to make it 7-0.

Following a quick stop by the Homer-Center defense, Arone struck again, this time with a 44-yard score to make it 14-0.

Going into the second quarter, the Dragons were looking for some life, and they seemed to have found it with their first natural first down of the game. However, a fumble on the next play resulted in the team’s first turnover of the game.

Later on, Wildcats running back Gabe Cobaugh took it into the end zone in a goal-to-go situation, extending their lead to 21. Before the end of the half, as it was extended by a few seconds due to a penalty, kicker Brady Frazer made a last-second field goal to make the score 24-0 at halftime.

At halftime, Purchase Line’s homecoming court was announced, and senior running back Logan Little was crowned the 2026 Homecoming King.

At the beginning of the second half, senior punter Matthew Johnston was forced to punt once again as the Homer-Center defense continued to assert their dominance over a reeling Dragons running game. Though he was able to pin the offense inside their own 5, a 96-yard drive was capped off by Cobaugh’s second, making it 31-0, where it stayed going into the final quarter.

In the final quarter, Arone scored his third touchdown of the match, and freshman running back Jaxon Wolfgang took it in to punctuate a dominant performance on the ground, leading to a final score of 44-0.

Purchase Line was put back to .500 with a third loss, and Homer-Center extended its winning streak to three as they continue to be one of the best football schools in the Heritage Conference. Next week, they will continue their road trip as they visit the winless Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays, and Purchase Line will hit the road down to Blairsville as they visit the River Valley Panthers.
