MALVERN: Hard to imagine anyone having a better first half of the regular season than what Beau Kosmalski had for the Great Valley Patriots. In just 5 games rushed for 923 yards and 17 touchdowns, including two games in which Kosmalski found the end zone five times. With numbers like that, it was easy to see why the Patriots had a perfect 5-0 record entering play this week. On Friday night, Kosmalski put on another show, rushing for 285 yards on 21 carries and four touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball while adding a fifth touchdown on an interception return, leading the way for the Patriots to a dominating 44-14 victory over the visiting West Chester Henderson Warriors in a Chest-Mont South Division matchup.
While Kosmalski may get all the glory, he knows that the real reason for his success this season has been the play of his offensive line, which consists of Nick Langston, Emmanuel Buitrago, Alan Johnson, Najee Dorsey and Dean Hickman. “It’s all credit to my offensive line. It’s some of the best blocking I’ve seen; they get off and create gaps; all props to them.” Kosmalski said, adding, “They lead our team; they have size; they have everything you could ask for they are the tightest bunch I know. They hang out every day, man, just working their craft; it’s amazing to see what they have become.”
The offensive line has a mutual feeling for Kosmalski as is evident by Dorsey saying, “blocking for Beau is just amazing feeling, just opening up the gaps for Beau watching just watching him get the touchdown is amazing.”
It was the Warriors that drew first blood on the evening, taking the opening drive and marching 80 yards on 12 plays before Jaxon Cherup connected with Ryan Turse for the 30-yard touchdown and the early 7-0 lead.

It was evident early on that the Patriots’ game plan was to give the Warriors a steady dose of Kosmalski, with four of their first plays all being handoffs to Kosmalski, including the drive-capper, a 28-yard touchdown run.

On their second possession of the game, the Patriots took the lead with an eight-play, 68-yard drive that ended with Kosmalski’s second touchdown, this one from 24 yards out, giving the Patriots the 13-7 lead with 11:04 left in the second quarter.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Kosmalski’s night was just getting started, and on the Warriors’ ensuing possession Kosmalski struck on the defensive side, perfectly reading Cherup, intercepting him and returning it 46 yards to put the Patriots up 20-7.

In the second half, the Patriots picked up right where they left off, with Kosmalski getting loose on the fourth play of the half, resulting in his fourth touchdown of the day, this one from 57 yards.

The Patriots quickly took back momentum on the ensuing play, with Kosmalski breaking through the Warrior defense and racing to the endzone for the fifth time on the evening, for the second consecutive week and third time this season; this one from 64 yards out, making it 37-14 Patriots.

With the victory the Patriots became just the second team in school history to start the season 6-0, joining the 2004 team, and that is not lost on the players. “It’s a great feeling being the second team to do this, putting on for Great Valley and really putting our school on the map,” Dorsey said.
Next week, the Patriots will look to keep their winning ways going when they travel to Bishop Shanahan. The Warriors (4-2) will look to get back into the win column when they travel to Sun Valley. Both games kick off at 7 pm next Friday.
