| October 8, 2026

The first week of October has come and gone, we are now six weeks into the 2026 regular season. We finally had some movement among the top three, that has basically been stagnant all season long, but we’ll get to that in a little bit. Just one team out of the rankings this week and that is Jersey Shore following their third straight loss. With all that said, let’s look at the new rankings and who is new to the ranks this week.

DISTRICT 4 WEEK 6 RECAP

Top 10 Teams

#1: Shamokin (6-0)
Last Week: #2 (+1)

The Indians finally move up to number one after Southern Columbia’s loss, but Shamokin still had a strong performance last week, shutting out Selinsgrove 42-0. Shamokin is entering a really tough stretch in their schedule over the next four weeks, but this team should be just fine the rest of the way. The first of those big tests come this week as they face #10 ranked Williamsport on the road.

#2: Mount Carmel (6-0)
Last Week: #3 (+1)

Mount Carmel does it, they took down the titans of District 4, earning a thrilling 27-26 victory over the previously top ranked Southern Columbia Tigers. If you had any doubts about this Mount Carmel team prior to last week, this team is for real, and they should be viewed as one of the very best that this 3A class has to offer. The Red Tornadoes have a tough road test this week, facing Montoursville.

#3: Southern Columbia (5-1)
Last Week: #1 (-2)

And down go the Tigers, as Southern Columbia has their 20 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of now #2 ranked Mount Carmel. Yes Southern Columbia is dropping to #3, but this team should not be concerned at all, they lost to a bigger school by a single point, and they will be just fine the rest of the way. The Tigers are back at home this week facing Danville.

#4: Bloomsburg (6-0)
Last Week: #4

The Panthers continue to roll, taking care of winless Central Columbia 48-9, and improving to 6-0 for the first time since 1982. Bloomsburg has a very real chance of finishing the regular season undefeated, which would be the first time that they have achieved that feat in school history. Bloomsburg will come back home this week and take on Hughesville.

#5: Shikellamy (5-1)
Last Week: #5

The Braves got it done against Central Mountain, winning 35-22 and improving to 5-1 for the first time since 2003. There’s no question whether this Shikellamy team is good anymore, they have proved that the answer is a hard yes, it will now just be a matter of whether they can compete with Shamokin in the district playoffs. This week Shikellamy is on the road against Selinsgrove.

#6: Line Mountain (6-0)
Last Week: #6

Another week, another dominant win for the Eagles, taking down Susquenita 54-8 for their sixth straight win. Line Mountain has now won 17 straight regular season games, and this team has a really good opportunity to finish with an undefeated regular season record for the second year in a row. They will have a big test this week, facing Steelton-Highspire at home, who is currently ranked #5 in the state in 1A.

#7: Montgomery (5-1)
Last Week: #7

The Red Raiders set a new school record last week for most points in a single game, handling winless Wyalusing 73-0. Montgomery last week showed the very best of what their offense can do, and if they can keep that up, this team will be scary when the postseason rolls around. This week the Red Raiders are on the road against Sayre.

#8: Athens (5-1)
Last Week: #8

Athens earned their fourth straight win last week, posting their second shutout of the season and taking down Wellsboro 44-0. The offense once again showed its firepower, and this team continues to look like one of the more dangerous teams in the 3A class. Athens is at home once again this week, taking on North Penn-Mansfield.

#9: Troy (5-1)
Last Week: #9

The Trojans stay on a roll, scoring 40 plus point for the second week in a row, as they take down North Penn-Mansfield 48-12. Troy is another team that has a very good chance of winning out, but just like every 2A team in District 4, will they be able to top Southern Columbia? Troy is on the road this week against Cowanesque Valley.

#10: Williamsport (5-1)
Last Week: #10

The Millionaires rallied against Jersey Shore late, taking down the Bulldogs 32-28 on the road last week for their second straight win. Williamsport continues to show their grit even with the loss of their starting quarterback, but they will have arguably their biggest test of the season this week. The Millionaires will be at home facing #1 ranked Shamokin.

Honorable Mentions

HM #1: Mifflinburg (4-2)
Last Week: Honorable Mention #2

The Wildcats keep their momentum going with their most dominant win of the season so far, taking down Warrior Run at home 51-6. Mifflinburg’s offense is proving to be one of the most balanced attacks in all of District 4, and is definitely a team to watch down the stretch. the Wildcats will be on the road this week against Central Mountain.

HM #2: Montoursville (4-2)
Last Week: Honorable Mention #3

Montoursville got their third straight win last week, taking down Danville on the road 35-8. The Warriors had their best passing performance of the year last week, up to this point they have been more of a run heavy team, if this team can keep up the passing numbers, they will be one of the district’s top contenders. Montoursville has a monumental test this week, as they are at home welcoming #2 ranked Mount Carmel.

HM #3: South Williamsport (4-2)
Last Week: Not Ranked

Welcome in the South Williamsport Mountaineers to the rankings after their 28-6 win over Muncy. South Williamsport takes Jersey Shore’s place after their third straight loss, and right now the Mountaineers sit at 4-2 with their 2 losses coming at the hands of Athens and Montgomery by a combined 16 points. This week the Mountaineers are on the road against Wyalusing.
