Valley View head coach Scot Wasilchak likes to spread the ball around. The Cougars had six different players score a touchdown as Valley View defeated West Scranton 47-6 at Scranton Memorial Stadium. “We like to spread the ball around. Our kids work hard in practice. They deserve an opportunity to get into the end zone.” Said Wasilchak.
Valley View started the game with the ball and the drive ended with Jeff Wasilchak scoring from 29 yards out to make it 7-0 Cougars with 9:18 remaining in the first quarter. West Scranton’s opening drive ended with a fumble that was recovered at the 10 yard line by Valley View. The Invaders defense held but the Cougars got a 29 yard field goal by Braden Loff to make it 10-0.
At the start of the second quarter, Brayden Cunningham scored from five yards out to make it 17-0 Valley View. West Scranton answered with a six play drive with a nine yard touchdown run by Austin Sostre to make it 17-6 with 8:25 remaining in the second quarter. The Cougars answered as Colin Dempsey went to Ben Evans for a 32 yard touchdown for a 24-6 lead with 6:33 remaining in the second quarter.
After Valley View’s defense forced a three and out, Cash Roe returned a punt to the one yard line. Seamus Sprague scored from one yard out for a 31-6 lead. After a second straight three and out by the Cougars defense, Valley View went four plays ending with Brady Bachman scoring from three yards out for a 38-6 lead with 2:40 left. The first half scoring ended with Roe returning a punt 48 yards for a 45-6 lead as we get to halftime.
The Cougars cruised through the second half to the 45-6 victory over West Scranton. West Scranton plays rival Scranton in the annual Bell Game. Valley View hosts Abington Heights next week.
