Kiski Cougars Trounce Blair Academy to Run Record to 6-0

 

The Kiski School Cougars went on the road Saturday afternoon to visit the Blair Academy Buccaneers in Blairstown, New Jersey.

Kiski came into the contest after a string of impressive victories to start the season. Blair entered the contest at 1-2. The contest was all Kiski from the get go, as the Cougars put up 21 points in the first quarter. The game was highlighted by the aggressive Kiski defensive line and QB Joe Felitsky’s 3 TD passes.

First Half

Blair received the opening kickoff, but Kiski quickly forced a 3-and-out and a punt. The offense took over at the Blair 47 yard line. Kiski moved the ball easily with the run game combination of Mason Jones and Partick Maignan. The drive was capped with a 17-yard TD pass from Joe Felitsky to WR Noa Seyi Onobiono. Kicker Will LeComte added the PAT and Kiski was up 7-0. On the next drive, the Kiski pass rush would collapse the pocket, and DT Jason Gross stripped the ball from Blair QB Jude Hardy. DT Ryan Chambers scooped up the ball at the 10-yard line and carried it to the end zone for the second Kiski score. LeComte’s PAT extended the Kiski lead to 14-0. A sack by Chambers forced another Blair punt, and Kiski would score again on a 20-yard TD run by Jones. The LeComte PAT would put Kiski up 21-0 in the first quarter.

Blair would move the ball through the air to start the second quarter, driving the ball to the Kiski 8-yard line, but Kiski’s defense would hold and force the Bucs to settle for a 25-yard FG by K Colin McAskin. Kiski would answer quickly. 40 yards by Maignan on two carries set Kiski up at the Blair 41, and Felitsky would connect with WR Curty Wade on a 41-yard TD strike. The PAT add would extend the Kiski lead to 28-3. The teams would trade possessions, and Chambers would intercept a screen pass at the Blair 30 yard line to the 5.Felitsky would hit WR Omari Shirriel on a quick slant pass for a 5-yard TD. Kiski would miss a 2-point conversion pass, 34-3 Kiski at the half.

 

Second Half

Blair would attempt an onside kick to open the second half, but Kiski would recover and 4 straight runs by Maignan would result in a 6-yard TD. The LeComte PAT would put Kiski up 41-3. The Kiski defense would again hold Blair, and Kiski would move the ball downfield with several short passes and two long rushes by Maignan. Kiski would score again as RB Ryan Crete find the end zone from 1 yard out. The PAT would fail on a bad snap, extending Kiski’s lead to 47-3 as the third quarter expired.

The fourth quarter would be shortened to an 8-minute continuous clock. Neither team would score and Kiski would close out the game with a 47-3 victory.

The 6-0 Cougars will return to Saltsburg for Homecoming against the 3-2 Peddie School (NJ) Falcons. Blair falls to 1-3 and will go on the road to Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA.
