FOLSOM: Back on the first night of the season in August, the Central Bucks East Patriots traveled down to Delaware County to battle the Green Raiders of Ridley and found themselves on the losing end of a 28-7 decision in a game that Sr. Mike Price missed the second half of. On Friday night, the Patriots again made the trek back down to Ridley, and Mike Price was healthy for the entire game, and it was Ridley that paid the price for Price being healthy as the 10th-seeded Patriots completely flipped the table on the 7th-seeded Green Raiders, knocking them off 28-7 in the first of the District 16A playoffs.
“It definitely played a huge factor; that is a good team, well coached, very physical, but we knew we were the better team and we showed that tonight.” Price said when asked if the season-opening loss to the Green Raiders played any motivational role in Friday’s outcome.
With Dan Kirk, Tim Gulbish, Jackson Lambrecht, Crew McFerson, and Damien DeRosa paving the way, the Patriots offense bullied the Green Raiders defense to a total of 382 yards of offense, including 285 yards rushing, led by Price’s 196 yards on the ground.
While Price shined on the offensive side of the ball, he was quick to give credit to everyone else, saying, “Everyone executed their jobs; coaches getting the right calls; it wasn’t just me; it was a group effort.” Price added, “There were huge holes; my line, I love them to death, they open holes for me, and I just try to do my job.”
Defensively, the Patriots were equally impressive, holding the Green Raiders to a total of 172 yards. The leader of the Patriots defense on Friday night was LB Hunter Pulford. Pulford had several huge plays on defense and a pair of sacks. What sets Pulford apart from others is that when the Patriots are on offense, he’s lined up at the Quarterback position. QBs playing Linebacker is becoming a bit of a Patriots tradition, with Pulford being the third consecutive Patriots LB to also play QB.
“It comes from a long history of CB East quarterbacks playing linebacker, from Dan Vogelsong in 2023, Logan Simkiss in 2024; it’s just in our roots we play blue-collar football, and we give everything we have every single game. Pulford said, adding, “That’s why I love this team. I love this coaching staff because I know I can guarantee that, at the end of the game, I’m going to know every single one of them left everything out there.”
Right from the start, the Patriots set the tone, taking the game’s opening possession and marching 65 yards in seven plays, all on the ground, with Price busting through the Green Raiders’ defense for a 33-yard touchdown, putting the Patriots up 7-0 less than 4 minutes into the game.
The Green Raiders got a big boost on the ensuing kickoff with Brody Bair breaking a 45-yard return, giving the Green Raiders the ball at their own 46. The Green Raiders managed to drive down to the Patriots’ 22 before the Patriots defense came up with a stop on a fourth-and-two.
The Patriots offense continued to roll on their second possession, marching 77 yards on 13 plays and extending their lead to 14-0 when Pulford went to air and found Price for a 32-yard touchdown.

On their second possession, the Green Raiders drove down to the Patriot 7 when once again the Patriots defense tightened up and forced their second turnover on downs.

The Green Raiders forced a turnover on downs on the Patriots’ third possession of the game, but the Ridley’s offense couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity, turning the ball over on downs for the third time in the first half.
The Patriots then drove down to the Green Raiders’ 37 and appeared poised to possibly add to their lead, but the clock ran out on the first half.
In the third quarter, the Patriots picked up where they left off, forcing the Green Raiders to punt on the opening possession of the second half, setting the stage for the Patriots’ offense.
The Patriots’ offense responded with a nine-play, 80-yard drive that ate up nearly five minutes of clock and ended with Pulford finding Owen Metzger for a 17-yard touchdown, putting the Patriots up 21-0.

In the fourth quarter, Price seemingly put the on-ice, capping a 16-play, 82-yard drive with his 3-yard touchdown run, making it 28-0 with 2:10 to play.

The Green Raiders, however, weren’t going down without a fight, taking the ensuing drive 60 yards on 7 plays and finding the end zone with Joey Carroll connecting with Chase Bonnes for a 19-yard touchdown, making it 28-7 with 35 seconds. The Patriots recovered the ensuing onside kick and took a knee to end the game.
