Before heading to Lycoming Colin wants to prove he’s one of the best in the city.

George Washington senior offensive lineman Colin Giel is a player who sticks out on the field with his size and equally his physical dominance. The Eagles finished his senior season with a 7-4 record and while many teams would consider that a great season Colin and his team felt they could’ve been better. Their last game was a hard fought loss to neighborhood rival Archbishop Ryan on Thanksgiving morning 17-6. Colin who is a resident of the northeast actually attends Mast Community Charter School but plays for George Washington due to a co-op agreement with both schools. Colin was selected to the All Public League team and rewarded for his hard work with an All Star game selection where he will serve as an offensive lineman. Standing at 6-3 320lbs Colin had his recruitment pick up during his senior year and decided to commit and sign with Division 3 program Lycoming College. Colin says “Lycoming is a place I’m able to settle in for the next four years because it really felt like home and a place I could thrive and be great at starting with the coaches and the players”.  He credits Washington head coach Austin Brasche for the current state of the program being on the rise. “Coach Brasche plays a tremendous role in our success currently and without him I don’t think we would be as good. He is always there for the team on and off the field. He turned around the team by bringing back alumni who also played to help coach us this past season”.

Upon enrolling at Lycoming this upcoming summer Colin plans to major in biology and after graduating enrolling in grad school to ultimately become a dentist. Colin expressed that being selected to play in this game means a lot to him as he gets to play with his friends one more time as high school players while also showing that he is a top offensive lineman in the city. When asked how he wants his high school career to be remembered he simply stated “I want people to remember me as a leader and a hard worker with how much I poured into high school football over the last 3 years of my high school experience”. Typically all star games feature a couple players from each team which means rivals become teammates. Colin stated that “Our practices started off kind of slow with no pads at first. Once we put on the pads our second week of practicing everyone was amped to hit, showing who’s the best of the best on the team all while trying to better each other”. As for his transformation into an all league player Colin says over the past couple years things that helped him improve were his coaches and teammates. With them being able to have competitions and giving tips & tricks it’s helped him greatly improve and be recognized as an all public player.

Colin wanted to thank his parents first and foremost for their support, “They drove me everywhere, supported me 100% through my journey and always pushed me to be my absolute best”. He also wanted to thank coach Juice and Coach C his 13 and under coaches with Bensalem Ramblers. “Those two coaches were the start of my football journey and welcomed me into a great team for my first year.” Last but not least Colin wants to thank all of his high school coaches who have helped him along the way. Colin will be playing along side his Washington teammates OL Isaiah Thomas , WR Shomari Rodgers and DB Mario Lopez hoping to walk off with a victory. No matter the final score he’s walking off the field an all star and a winner in life.
