Imhotep Panthers lead the 5A PA Writers All-State honors

The Imhotep Panthers of Philadelphia won their 2nd PIAA state title in school history and with winning comes individual accolades. This year the PA Writers selected HC Devon Johnson as the 5A Coach of the Year as he led the Panthers to a perfect 15-0 season in his 3rd full season in charge of the program. After defeats in 2021 & 2022 Coach Johnson led his team through a challenging non-league schedule, dominated their PL counterparts and mounted a courageous comeback win against Roman Catholic in the District 12 Championship game before running away through the state playoffs. In 3 seasons Coach Dev has an outstanding record of 49-5.

The 5A player of the year is also from Imhotep, Junior RB Jabree Coleman-Wallace who has 2 handful of Power 5 offers. Jabree rushed for 1585 yards & 28 touchdowns this past season. He also showed value as a receiving back catching 8 passes for 208 yards & 2 touchdowns. Not to be outdone he also returned a punt 80 yards for a score. Other Panthers honored were Sr. QB Mikal Davis (2423 yards & 18 TDs through the air with another 682 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns), Sr. DL Jahsear Whittington who recently signed with Pittsburgh who led the team with 15 sacks mixed in with his 56 tackles. Sr. DB Ken Woseley Jr. (Penn State) was honored after recording 6 interceptions while also kicking for the Panthers. He converted 63/68 PAT’s and nailed 4/6 field goals including a long of 35 yards.

Other District 12 honorees were Roman Catholic Sr. DB Jah Jah Boyd (Indiana) who registered 11 touchdown receptions as a receiver to go along with 3 interceptions. Martin Luther King Jr. LB Khalid Bueno earned honors after putting up 111 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 2 FR including one for a TD and a pick 6 on an interception.
