The Vikings of Central Catholic do enough and capitalized on Saucon Valley’s mistakes to come away with a 24-0 victory to advance to the District 11 4A Semifinal next week.
Central Catholic looked to run away with the game early as a fantastic one handed interception by Grayson Schmell stopped the Panthers on their opening drive and set the Vikings up with great field position to strike first.

And strike first they did. The Vikings wasted little time as Trey Torres-Johnson escaped a slew of Panther defenders for a 30 yard scamper to open the scoring on the evening. With 10:41 remaining in the opening quarter, Central Catholic led 7-0.

On their next posession, Central Catholic once again marched right down the field and found pay-dirt. This time via a pass and catch from Janiel Pena to Tahir Edmondson from 13 yards out to extend the lead to 14 with 7 minutes still remaining in the first.

The game looked to be quickly racing towards getting out of hand, but the Saucon defense tightend up and kept the Vikings off the board for the rest of the half. Going in to the half it was Central Catholic 14- Saucon Valley 0.
In to the 2nd half, the Saucon defense once again stood tall and stopped the Vikings deep in their own territory and forced a punt after a mishandled opening kickoff to the half. The Panthers looked primed to scratch their way back in to the game as Chaffier found Braden Rohn deep over the middle, but as he was fighting for extra yards, the Central Catholic punched the ball out and Schmell picked up the loose ball and returned it out near midfield for the Vikings. This thwarted the biggest threat by the Panthers on the evening. Central was unable to capitalize on the turnover however and the ball went right back to the Panthers who were unable to do much with the ball themselves.
Wrapping up the 3rd quarter, Tahir Edmondson picked off a deep pass by Chaffier which looked to be intended for Braden Rohn.

The Vikings then capped off the scoring for the evening as Pena found Shahiem Roberts on a blown coverage deep over the middle for a 34 yard score to extend the lead to 21-0 in favor of Central Catholic with 7:48 remaining in the game. This is how the game would end and Central Catholic advances to the DXI 4A semi-final next week as they await the winner of the #2 Bethlehem Catholic(8-2) vs #7 North Schuylkill(3-7) game tomorrow night as Bethlehem Area School District Stadium. The loss ends Saucon Valley’s season with a 6-5 record.
