Andrew Jackson came out of the gate like a team on a mission and never let Columbia breathe. Jvon Kelly punched in a two-yard score for a 7-0 lead at 9:48 of the first, then ripped off a 30-yard touchdown just two minutes later to make it 14-0. Brody Broughton finished the quarter by firing a touchdown pass to Jayce Brown, and just like that it was 21-0 AJ before the first quarter was even over.
The second quarter was more of the same. Broughton kept it himself and scampered in from 21 yards out to make it 28-0, and then Columbia handed over a gift: a 4th down snap sailed over the punter’s head and through the back of the endzone for a safety. 30-0 at the half, and the Columbia offense hadn’t done a thing. The third quarter was quiet with no scoring, as AJ clearly decided the game was already in the books.
Kelly came back in the fourth and added another rushing touchdown, this one from 35 yards out, for a 37-0 lead. That’s three rushing scores for him on the night. Columbia finally got on the board with under two minutes left when Nycari Kincaid hauled in a nine-yard pass, but the PAT was no good and the 37-6 final tells the story. Wire to wire, this one belonged to Andrew Jackson.
