Lowellville Rockets v. Waterloo Vikings
Lowellville, OH v. Atwater, OH
Wildcat Stadium, Struthers, OH

W – 0 – 0 – 12 – 0 — 12
L – 6 – 15 – 7 – 13 — 41

On Saturday night in Struthers, Ohio, two winless teams met on the turf at Wildcat Stadium looking for their first win. The homestanding Lowellville Rockets called Wildcat Stadium at Struthers High School home due to the Covid-19 restrictions on attendance. Waterloo, who just had stadium issues of their own last season, were the visitors and looking for a first win as well.

Lowellville opened the scoring with the lone points of the first quarter. A 5 yard TD run and a pass attempt failed for two. Halfway through the second, they doubled their lead via a 47 yard TD pass and converted the run. A 37-yard TD pass with 1:03 left in the half made it 21-0 at the break.

Waterloo scored on their first of two 65 yard TD runs before Lowellville connected on their second 37-yard TD pass. The second Waterloo score made it 28-12, Lowellville, with twelve minutes left to play. But a once closely contested, rather ‘even’ game started to gain separation for the boys in blue. A 19-yard TD run and  42 yard TD pass in the fourth quarter made it 41-12. A missed PAT on the last TD was wide and the running clock was averted. Though Waterloo moved the ball efficiently at the end of the game, they were stymied at the 1-yard line as time expired. Lowellville would hang on to a 41-12 win on Senior Night at their home-away-from-home.
