Brad ‘Bo’ Orlando Resigns as McDowell Head Coach

Erie McDowell will be looking for a new head football coach as Brad Orlando has resigned after 10 years leading the Trojans onto the field of play every Friday night in the fall.  Orlando’s record at McDowell was 81-37 with the Trojans playing not only Cathedral Prep, but some quality teams from New York and Ohio each and every year.  Under his guidance, McDowell won nine District 10 titles.

Mark Becker, McDowell’s AD was quoted as saying, “I want to thank Bo for the leadership he’s shown in every aspect of being a head coach.  He has worked tirelessly to make this program the best it can be.”

Orlando and his McDowell Trojans have been involved in some classic games during his tenure, but none as great and as thrilling as that Friday night on November 18, 2022 when State College beat McDowell 57-50 in triple overtime to advance in the state playoffs.  McDowell had driven over four hours to get to State College.  The game was played in frigid temperatures and with snow on the field.  Among his quotes from that game was, “Wow! What a hell of a game!”

Coach Orlando will be sorely missed.  He left an impression on every young man that came through the McDowell football program.  He will remain at McDowell as a teacher where he will still be able to make a positive impact on his classroom students.
