Central Bucks West Cruises Past Easton in Week 1 Revenge Spot

A year ago, Cole Ordway and the Easton Red Rovers got past Central Bucks West 26-20. The 2026 season, on the other hand, had a very different open. Liam Laphen scored first and also put the proverbial nail in the coffin late one play after a turnover to help secure a 36-7 Bucks rout of the Red Rovers.

Despite the Red Rover marching band playing its usual best and loudest, the Bucks were not phased. The defense was on display early. After Zahviay McGurn found Sean McPeek over the middle for 27, Easton was forced into a 4th & 14 near midfield on their opening drive. Braylen Cape returned the punt 35 yards, slicing and dicing through the coverage, to the Rovers’ 42. A first play Finn Riley 19-yard scamper put West near the red zone. Four plays later, Liam Laphen caught a Josh George pass placed perfectly over Broddy Thom in coverage. With a two-point conversion, the Bucks led 8-0 late in the first and held that lead after one.

Easton managed another trip near midfield, but started the second quarter in a 4th & 9. The punt snap went over the head of Robbie McCormick, who had to fall on it back at his own 30. Three carries by Nick Miletto netted him a 13-yard touchdown score. With 11:21 to go in the opening half, the Bucks had a 15-0 lead and were making big gains at the line with a powerful run game.

Easton saw some flashes from McGurn–he fit a ball to McPeek in tight double coverage over the middle late in the first half, picking up 25 yards. Amin Fideen was on the receiving end of McGurn’s first touchdown pass as a Rover, connecting on a strike down the middle for 15 yards and tightening things to a 15-7 game.

But CB West wasn’t done in the half, and the game flipped on NickMiletto’s big run down the left side, getting all the way to Easton’s 10. Cape flew in from 2 yards out and capped the halftime scoring. The Bucks led 22-7.

Special teams helped out the Bucks early in the third, as Louie Cipollo busted it over the left side of the kick coverage unit for 37 yards down near the Rovers 25. Fortunately for Easton, they were spared the quick score when Sean McPeek pounced on a Miletto fumble on a ball that was punched out.

Despite putting together another long drive of seven plays, Easton was forced to boot the ball away. They nearly got the ball back on the ensuing play. Amin Fideen got in front of Josh George’s intended receiver, reading the route perfectly. A potential a long INT return, though, went off his fingertips.

The Bucks defense had other chances, however. On a completion to McPeek, the ball came out and this time, Shane McGwire got on top of the loose ball, giving the Bucks their fifth possession that began in plus territory. One play later, Liam Laphen was on the receiving end of his second touchdown of the night. CB West took a now commanding 29-7 lead with 1:46 left in the third.

Louie Cipollo made another mark on the game with a late interception on a deep ball in double coverage. He capped the Bucks’ scoring five plays later, catching a 29-yard pass over the middle, outracing single coverage.

“The quick start was huge. We emphasized all week in practice that we needed to start fast. We struggled last year with starting fast, so it was a big emphasis and a lot of fun,” Liam Laphen talked abotu the quick start his team got out to, setting a tone on offense that carried over to all phases of the game. “We were a lot more in shape on defense, a lot more mentally disciplined–reading our keys and getting off our blocks.”
