Central Rides Carter Schenk’s Versatility To Big Win Over Greater Johnstown

The Central Dragons rode the versatility of Carter Schenk to account for three different touchdowns to dominate the Greater Johnstown Trojans 44-0 at Trojan Stadium.

Schenk accounted for a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown, leading the Dragons offense to a dominant performance. It wasn’t just his efforts either as all around, Central found many ways to move the ball down field.

“First of all, it’s a team effort for us,” Central coach Jerry Albright stated. “It’s not one individual having outstanding nights, it’s 11 guys on the field having outstanding games. Our offense has been clicking these last two weeks.”

Central got off to a quick start after a bad Johnstown snap gave the Dragons positive field position. From there, they put together a strong drive and Schenk finished the drive with a touchdown.

The Trojans were moving the ball well following the score, but a fumble gave the ball right back. Shortly after, Central worked some trickery, performing a double pass from Jesse Muthler to Schenk and he aired it downfield to Adam Loucks for a 29 yard score.

Johnstown turned their next drive over on downs, but did get a big interception from Stephon Goodman. Central responded with an interception of their own, putting them on the three yard line, allowing Semaj Musei to score a couple plays later.

That following kickoff, the Dragons recovered a fumble and Muthler immediately took advantage by rushing for a 22 yard score. That took them to halftime, and Central added on quickly with a rushing touchdown from Bronson Myers.

After another stop, Schenk found a way to score his third touchdown as Muthler threw it deep to the endzone and on the deflection, it bounced into Schenk’s hands for an 18 yard score.

From there, the Dragons collected two safeties and the Trojans were unable to get any points on the board. They were moving the ball very well in the early stages of the game, but small mistakes turned into huge difference makers.

“Two weeks in a row it’s been unforced errors,” Johnstown coach Tony Penna Jr. said. “Central’s a really good club, you can tell on tape that they’ve spent a lot of time together. I give Coach Jerry, my college teammate, a lot of credit.”

“We don’t have that margin for error right now. I haven’t gotten them as sharp as they need to be. I got some work to do.”
