The rivalry between Ringgold and Chartiers Valley was held last night, with the Rams looking toward a playoff and the Colts.
The Rams started their drive by marching downfield and scoring a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.
The Colts responded with a touchdown drive of their own, running the ball into the end zone from two yards out to tie the game with 6:54 left in the first quarter.
Ringgold’s rushing offense drove the ball down the field on their next drive, but the Colts held them to a field goal, 10-7, late in the first quarter.
The Second quarter remained quiet for both sides, with the Colts eventually breaking this on a 29-yard touchdown pass caught by Braylen Bogat. A failed two-point attempt left the Colts up 13-10 to close the first half.
The Third Quarter went silent, with neither team scoring; however, Ringgold looked to break into the lead as the quarter ended
Ringgold started the fourth quarter tying the game on a field goal after being denied three times from Chartiers Valley’s three-yard line.
Third and long for the Colts made it seem like the team was going to punt again, until quarterback Owen Weagraff found Bogat for a 47-yard reception, setting the team in scoring position late in the fourth. Chartiers Valley continued to push into the red zone, scoring on a two-yard reception by Chance Glover to take a 20-13 lead.
Ringgold wasn’t finished, having a drive of their own to tie the game at 20-20.
On the next drive, Weagraff fumbled the ball on a QB draw, only for it to be recovered by Zachary Efthimiades for a 66-yard touchdown run, 27-20.
Ringgold had one more drive going down the field in the final minutes. However, the Colts’ defense rushed Jase Trumpre to force an incomplete pass on fourth down and seal the victory for Chartiers Valley.
