Cheltenham Football Suspended for the 2026 Season

Tuesday afternoon word came down from the school district that the Cheltenham Panthers football program both varsity and junior varsity teams are suspended for the 2026 season. The ruling comes after an investigation for a locker room assault of a player in September 2025 was conducted which also showed elements of bullying and hazing with potentially 20 students witnessing it. While there will be no varsity or junior varsity programs this season, the Panthers will field a freshman team which will help the class of 2030 players gain valuable high school experience for when the junior and varsity teams are reinstated. An internal and external investigation regarding the locker room assault is still ongoing which made it hard to determine if there would be enough players eligible to play this season.
